New Hampshire is the least religious state in the U.S., edging out Vermont in Gallup's 2015 state-by-state analysis. Mississippi has extended its eight-year streak as the most religious state, followed closely by neighboring Alabama.
These state-by-state results are based on over 174,000 interviews conducted as part of Gallup Daily tracking in 2015, including more than 480 interviews in every state and more than 1,000 interviews in most states. Complete results and sample sizes are shown at the end of the article.
Gallup classifies Americans into three religious groups based on their responses to a question measuring religious service attendance and how important religion is in their daily life. Very religious Americans are those who say religion is important to them and who attend services every week or almost every week. Nonreligious Americans are those for whom religion is not important and who seldom or never attend religious services. Moderately religious Americans meet just one of the criteria, either saying religion is important or that they attend services almost every week or more.

When ISIS gets here, they’ll fix this.
Plenty of adult, peep show type stores though.
Freedom comes with a price.
So, this is what they mean by Live Free or Die...
Free NOT to believe.
People have the right to go to Hell.
Anybody else see the correlation between being the most non-religious and having such a HUGE drug problem?
Yes, indeed.
On the plus side I’d guess N.H is very high on the list of guns per capita and 2nd amendment support.
If Christie was a real threat someone would have brought up his record on the subject.
Isn’t it interesting that Trump is looking to take New Hampshire on Tuesday, and Gallop suddenly finds it relevant to post the religious make-up of the state?
LOL, here Cruz, a gift horse...
Maybe the Africans will send missionaries.
‘’Anybody else see the correlation between being the most non-religious and having such a HUGE drug problem?’’
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nope. Because one of the most ‘religious’ groups that classifies itself as Christian, has one of the most severe pedophile problems in the world.
Christianity itself as a religion has huge sexual, adultery, abortion, and marital issues.
Religion doesn’t cure anything. A person does not have to be part of an organized religion, or have a particular name attached to them, to be a solid, firm, fierce believer in God, and to live that belief out daily and with integrity and love for his/her brother. Many people who fit this category left organized religions due to the lack of such, and would resent being labeled as ‘religious’.
There’s a huge difference between religion and relationship with God and man.
One is a philosophy while the other is a heart condition.
You read my mind!
This was a long-term plan by the Marxist Left to takeover a lot of New England by infiltration. It started in the late 1960’s with Vermont, moved to Connecticut and Rhode Island, and now Maine and New Hampshire. Massachusetts was always Red and New York leftist moved eastward and Mass. reds moved northward.
All you have to do is to read articles in the New York Times from that period of time about the influx of leftists into Vermont and how they took over city councils and town councils. Look up John Froines (Chicago 7) and Lee Webb (Quicksilver Times, etc) and you’ll read how they got ensconced in the Vermont government, thanks in part, if not in whole to leftist governor Kunnes.
Also read about the Cambridge-Goddard “university” program that trained Marxists in many areas of study who would then go out and help colonize and propagandize the neighboring states.
One of the Marxist Left’s greatest covert, subversive plans and program, and it worked like a charm. Don’t believe me, just look at how New England has gone Marxist Red over the past 40+ years (including some insane members of Congress).
Interesting that only one state is above the Mason-Dixon line (KY is close enough)and that state is run by cultists.
RE: LOL, here Cruz, a gift horse...
Cruz and Carson don’t stand a chance in NH at all.
Yes, I think that’s pretty clear. I agree.
I don't think New Hampshirites are serious, proselytizing atheists, though. "Indifferent" or "Undecided" might be better terms to describe them. My hunch is that there are more serious, determined atheists in Vermont and Massachusetts.
