In a major victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Thursday sided with a broad coalition of gun owners, businesses and organizations that challenged the constitutionality of a Maryland ban on assault weapons and other laws aimed at curbing gun violence.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said the state's prohibition on what the court called "the vast majority of semi-automatic rifles commonly kept by several million American citizens" amounted to a violation of their rights under the Constitution.
"In our view, Maryland law implicates the core protection of the Second Amendment -- the right of law-abiding responsible citizens to use arms in defense of hearth and home," Chief Judge William Traxler wrote in the divided ruling.
Provisions that outlaw these firearms, Traxler wrote, "substantially burden this fundamental right."

A court can recognize this fact. If it doesn’t, it is not a legitimate authority. Yay court for not being communistic.
One of the things that “well regulated militias” do is store more dangerous implements of war in armories for distribution to the trained citizens who belong to the militia in case of emergency. The tricky part is defining what is a more dangerous implement of war
On a separate note, now that women have been judged eligible for every branch and twig of the armed services, there is now talk of requiring national registration of women as well as men. Any thoughts on that issue?

"Assault salsa" and maybe "Assault wings" in the food category.
"Assault stupidity" for basically every liberal viewpoint.
Maybe "Assault level friendliness" for my dog and "Assault level indifference" for my cat.
It is wicked and mean-spirited and against the very order of nature as God set it up to register women in the anticipation of compulsory military service in defense or offense of a country. It will bring additional judgments on our land. It is a pox and a black spot in the history of our country to even consider a thing.
By the way, would any liberal women reading this please stop staring at me like I’m hurting you when I hold the door for you?
“there is now talk of requiring national registration of women as well as men.”
That’s all it is, talk.
Semi-automatic rifles, or pistols, or whatever, are not “assault weapons”. No more than Toyota Hilux pickup trucks are “assault vehicles”.
ISIS obtains these vehicles, not from Toyota directly, but through theft, sales through third parties, importations from countries other than Syria or Iraq or by international smuggling. Then they are modified to carry armaments, rocket launchers, machine guns and war material of various kind.
It is not the product itself that are “assault” by their very nature, it is the evil uses to which they are put by men of malicious will.
Only the control and eventual elimination of the bearded men with the burning eyes will take away the “assault” aspect of these products of modern manufacturing capability.
“Regulated and regulating (as in “a well regulated militia) is a term that us unclear. It was used differently back then.”
I have wondered about that as well. I wonder if the modern modern equivalent might be “a well trained militia”, “an organized and disciplined militia”, or “a highly ready response force” might be closer to what they meant, rather than the modern connotation of regulations as restrictions or limitations. I guess that minutemen were the model of the day.
The term regular continued in use in relation to the military into my lifetime, in things like regular soldiers , or the Regular Army.
My dog does that LOL
Precsely. ALL “weapons” should be legalized. If the gubmint can have grenades, missiles and nukes, you can too (if you can afford it, no welfare in nuke handouts).
Invalid arguments from politicians:
“those weapons don’t belong on the street”
“those are military weapons”

Where are those thinkers now?
The whole country is like some kind of spoiled brat
“Well that’s just stupid, so why do we allow the term assault gun?”
Why do we allow the term “gun violence,” as though it were some special kind of violence?
Well I agree that a voluntary army is the best way to go. But if we get invaded by Grenada or Cuba :-) we might have to go to a draft at some point to save the nation. That’s the only way I defend a draft.
Exactly.
Thanks for posting this. Fox is busy pushing establishment rino and anmnesty boy. First, you could tell when they totally ignored the bombshell Drudge Headline that Phyllis Shlafly thinks rubio is a liar and a deceiver and should never be president and then this huge gun decision. Where is FAUX??
Assault rifles are full auto. These are not assault rifles
