The liberty movement must help elect Senator Ted Cruz the next President of the United States.
Many of us in the liberty movement saw the handwriting on the wall some time ago, as far as the Rand Paul campaign was concerned. He came in a distant fifth in Iowa, a state many thought he would win a year ago. His polling looked bleak in the other early states, and he was short on resources.
He likely could have gone on, but instead, suspended his campaign Wednesday morning. He'll focus on securing re-election to the Senate, which he should easily accomplish. This turn of events has caused many of us in the liberty movement to despair, and even question the viability of the movement itself. This must stop.

We cannot simply throw up our hands, take our ball, and go home. To do so would validate every criticism the establishment makes about liberty Republicans. That we're not really Republicans. That we don't understand the value of coalitions in politics. That we're children who pitch a screaming fit the moment we don't exactly what we want. This will not do.
In service of that principle, I believe wholeheartedly that liberty Republicans must work to elect Senator Ted Cruz, of Texas, the next President of the United States. Along with Senator Mike Lee, he's stood with Rand more than anyone else in the Senate. True, he's not perfect, but he's very good, and we can't let the proverbial perfect be the enemy of the good.
He's the only candidate still in the race who...

Ted Cruz 2016!
Prepare for disappointment. :-)
Dead meat!
Free Republic used to be a place to openly discuss the candidates and ideals. This is the place of childish cyborgrenades and foolish jaborwalky. Cruz is the best choice in my opinion.
Go Trump Go! My opinion but Trump Cruz, Cruz Trump is just fine too:-)
And which we should help if we can.
I’ll be voting for the winner, Donald J. Trump.
~~Go Trump Go~~
When a candidate doesn’t live up to Christian values, they tend to fall on their sword. He has proved that he is light on the integrity. He has gone from 14 percent to 7 percent in New Hampshire. Now everyone says oh that is because of no evangelicals and that is true.....which is why getting 3rd would be acceptable but anything lower would be looked at as very negative going into South Carolina which Ben Carson has 10 percent there already.
Canadian Anchor Baby Ted Millhouse Cruz slipping in the polls.
Ted has Candian values, just ask Dr. Carson
I am thinking road kill. ;>)
Trump is the target right now because they know they can always take Cruz out with a birthplace lawsuit, and one sympathetic federal judge, opening the path for Rubio to become the nominee.
“Prepare for disappointment”
I am...Preparing for all the Trumptantrums and Twitter Fits when Cruz sweeps the south.
I do not believe the polls, they were bigtime wrong in Iowa. I do not believe Cruz or his campaign did anything wrong.
Cruz is the best choice in the opinion of a lot of FReepers. Including the founder of Free Republic.
[... now backing slowly out of the conversation, fully expecting to be bashed by Trumpbots for recognizing that Jim Robinson’s preferred candidate is Ted Cruz ...]
Delusions of grandeur are a wonderful thing. Sadly I think you have to poll better than 12% to win primaries. That’s the tough fact.
They may be wrong, but Cruz needs to be at least 3rd. If he is any lower they will treat it as a loss. Same with Trump and Rubio. They all must be in top 3 or it will be considered a loss. The rest of the group 1 needs 4th and the rest will be done.
The polls in the south are all with big Trump leads.
I doubt after Cruz loses in NH, SC, and NV he will be seen as a superstar.
I think in two weeks his fund raising takes a big hit.
Rubio will be funded by Koch Bros. and the Cheap money Whores of the GOPe, they don’t care he is an Amnesty Pimp.
So the fight is going to be Trump anti amnesty vs. Rubio pro amnesty. In the southern primaries Rubio loses on that issue. I don’t see him winning any southern state.
Cruz won in a dishonest way and for a Professed Religious Zealot, his Nixonesque tactics stink. I see him his actions being persued by Dr. Carson.
Go Trump
I don’t know why you would say that, you are entitled.
Maybe I am looking at it wrong. Do you think it is cool if Cruz gets 6th place in New Hampshire?
