Communism sucks. Socialism does too. Ask the people who survived both systems. As Fidel came to power in 1959, how many Americans slid onto rafts to get into Cuba? Or took the last ship to Havana? I'll need actual names.

Let's be clear. There is no difference between socialists, liberals and progressives. They are all Communists, or shades of the same mentality.
Either way, it's about taking from the rich and giving it to the poor in order to make everybody equal, meaning equally miserable. It's also about a one-man show. No checks. No balances. Like Obama visiting a Baltimore mosque to offer Muslims his love and concern.
But Obama visited no synagogue to share Jewish grief for loved ones being slain in Israel, most recently the 19-year-old woman of valor Hadar Cohen.
Nor has Mr. Obama ever shared concern for Jews being tormented on campus.
One man, one rule, can be so arbitrary.
Communism sucks. Ask the people who lived there. Call it by its more pleasant and more acceptable name, socialism; same answer. Unbearable.

Communism is indeed good - for the elites. I once was having a discussion with someone who thought communism/socialism was better than our system. When I pointed out all the problems in the past century with it and all the millions of people slaughtered as a result, his response was that “it just hasn’t been done right yet”. When I pointed out that if communists came to power in the US he might be killed, he was unfazed. You see, everything would be fine because he expected to be one of the elites. No concern for the masses who could be slaughtered because they opposed a totalitarian takeover.
This happened quite a few years ago before I thought it was even possible for American citizens to vote in communists/socialists under the umbrella of the Democrat party.
Your using socialistic propaganda is not going to work. The USA’s ideal is family-based society (which is the only real society), where nobody “starve(s) until he somehow miraculously gets the idea” because knowledge is passed down from parents to children. Socialism is for abolition of the family, where nobody “gets” anything that the state does not want them to get due to total slavery thereunto.
People with your mindset most unfortunately misread that phrase. Philippians is a book of joy and the exhortation is to appreciate how awesome the salvation work of God is. As a pastor I very dearly respect put it, God works it in, and then we work it out. I would add, that the more we appreciate it, the more we will work it out. It is as a burning in the bones, to use another biblical metaphor.
Total dependence on God means a total motivation to work in the way that God works. You are still thinking half worldly.
And yes socialism has everything to do with it. Socialism is a lie applied to the original principle. Bring back the original principle and the desire for the lie fades away and disappears. The prodigal is eating pig pods because he has no proper food.
Your mis-take on the principle, I boldly posit, is heavily pride based. You would “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” lest you go to the ignominy of hell.
Look at reality now. Look how faith has dropped the ball. You see the opening for socialism. I have only described it. I have not advocated it. We can’t just put our fingers in our ears when our enemies speak and go la la la la, we can’t hear you... because the reason that lies get traction can point out truths that are very unflattering to us. Our enemies can in that sense educate us.

Yes, they do suck but to 99% of the people socialism = Denmark. Tony Blair, who got a standing ovation by the W. Bush era GOP congress is a socialist - leader of the Labour party. So to most people in the USA socialism is what they have in Sweden or Finland. Not exactly North Korea.

Except that (and I am sure you're aware) once a country goes down the Socialism/Communism path, it is very hard to get back to the ways of freedom. It usually requires a bloody civil war or coup to get it done, and those in power will fight like mad and throw everything they have at the people in order to retain that power.
I am sure that both Clinton and Sanders would act accordingly.

We're not yet at a state of being like, say, Cuba, or Ceausescu's Romania, or Venezuela. As long as the people still have the right to say what they want, and do what they want (within reason) without 'State Security' showing up at 2am and busting your door in, I believe there's still a chance to get things back the way they are supposed to be.
