Society, by giving its official unction to drugs by way of legalizing marijuana to gather in tax revenue, is betraying its youth.

So the US was in betrayal of its youth from 1787 until the 1930's when FDR saved us with defacto mj prohibition?

And betrayed its youth for all but a decade and a half of American history by legalizing the toxic addictive drug alcohol.

Would you not concede that heroin is more dangerous than alcohol?

Of course. Would you not concede that marijuana (whose legalization you brought up) is less dangerous than alcohol?

These drugs, including marijuana, reach inside to the brain and do permanent damage.

Marijuana and alcohol can do so if overused.

the will to stop thehir curse has to come from a societal outcry, not government action.

I agree - although this statement seems at odds with your prior beefing about legalizing marijuana ... a government action, as is criminalization.

It was not a government action, it was by popular vote.
