Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recounted his older half-sister's struggles with drug addiction and eventual death during an emotional speech Thursday.
"These tragedies are happening in human lives all over this country -- it's the human journey," the GOP presidential candidate said at Emanuel Baptist Church in Hooksett, N.H., according to CNN. "It's fraught with peril and sometimes people make decisions bound and determined to destroy themselves.
"As a family you wonder: What could I have done more? Was there a way to change the path she was on? Those are the questions you never fully answer."
Cruz was describing Miriam Cruz, one of two children from his father Rafael Cruz's first marriage. He said she resented her parents' divorce and eventually turned towards prescription painkillers.
"Every one of us who has dealt with these demons -- or who has dealt with loved ones grappling with these demons -- everyone knows that these are personal journeys," Cruz said.
"Faith and a relationship with God can be a powerful, powerful element in turning that around," he added, citing his father's own method for escaping alcohol addiction.
Cruz added that he tried intervening in his half-sister's issues but could not convince her she needed rehabilitation.

Doubtful, this does not seem like something that could damage a campaign, compared to what BBart is saying this bombshell is.
I’m sure Burney will say if we just had “free healthcare for all” she would be alive today.
I know the feeling. My brother got caught up in drugs but was fortunate to get himself straightened out for the most part. The effect it had on my mom and other family members was hard to deal with as well. So I definitely can relate to an extent.
I am for Cruz as my second choice behind Trump. But if this is the skeez BB has as a zinger, it is in extremely bad taste. NO ONE on this planet has control over the foibles and faults of another. All one can have is love, empathy, compassion and fear for them and be willing to help them however they need it.
To impugn someone’s character, second-hand or remotely, over another’s faults and actions over which they have no control is despicable.
No. NH is plagued with heroin overdoses that el Chapo’s dreamers are trafficking.
>Cruz was describing Miriam Cruz, one of two children from his father Rafael Cruz’s first marriage. He said she resented her parents’ divorce and eventually turned towards prescription painkillers.<
Divorce is an unbearably painful experience for kids.
Parents, think hard before you do it.
Yeah. It's probably more detain on that paisley robe.
Breitbart is waiting until after NH to drop the story.
Ted Cruz using anyone or anything to win. No thanks. Why bring this up now. It is politically expedient, that is why.
This story doesn't hurt him at all. Lots of families have been hurt by the drug fiasco in this country. Very few have been spared this kind of heartache.
Silliness.
Then that would lead me to believe that BB is establishment, no?
...if your opponent is making an idiot of himself...get out of his way.
BUT
I listen to Breitbart every morning on XM 125 and they are clearly amping up their game. They are bringing in good content. They are also spicing it with a bit of sensationalism and hype. This teaser thing resonates too much of Beck.
I just read an article about the very significant drug abuse problem in New Hampshire (nearly 500 deaths last year). Maybe that would be something Ted Cruz could mention in his campaign, perhaps with some helpful suggestions for local action.
Hmmm... seems like Rubio and Cruz blocked a requirement for insurances co to cover substance abuse.
Not sure what PAC this is from, but if true, not good optics for Cruz to bring this up...

I didn’t think what you posted was wrong. I think BB intended to start a ruckus for ratings, myself. No huhu.
I went to twitter and did not see any reference to a bombshell. What account was it under? I did look at Milo’s and it was uncomfortable.........but I did look for awhile.
