Donald Trump has to be happy seeing the latest results out of Alabama, where he is currently beating Ted Cruz by 16 points. Though the state only awards 47 delegates on Super Tuesday, if things stay about the same as they are now, he stands to gain a lot of delegates from the Yellowhammer State. Of course, things can change quickly, as the nation saw first-hand in Iowa on Monday night. Marco Rubio had a surprising surge to a strong third place finish, clearly positioning himself as the establishment candidate of choice.
Three days after the Iowa Caucuses have finished and weâve had three Republicans drop out of the race, bringing the total to 9. Where their support goes is still up in the air, but candidate dropouts will probably have an effect on the Alabama race.

Thanks and especially thanks for the link! :-)
The Trumpbots here on FR are some of the nastiest, most vicious, most deranged creeps I have ever come across. I wouldn't vote for Trump if I had a gun pointed at my head.
Turn that post of yours around and see exactly what you sound like.
Everything you accused Trump supporters of being, you perfectly proved your own self to be guilty of :(
That’s very good advice but since you weren’t around here the last time, I’ll tell you what will happen. Cruz voters will be the ones like last time who were against Mitt Romney. They hated Romney so bad that when he won the nomination, (acting like they claim Trump acts) they threw themselves on the floor kicking and screaming and then they took their ball and went home. They absolutely refused to come out and vote against Obama’s second term. So we got four more years of Obama. So you might as well get ready for Bernie.
Of course good ole Bernie Goldberg is saying this to help Rubio. Just wait until they go full force on Cruz but that probably won’t happen until if/when they can take out Trump. Cruz ought to be grateful the full force of the GOP isn’t coming down on him right now.
Well said, sir! Trump or Cruz, if we can deliver on either one and they keep half their promises it will be transformational for our nation in a very positive way.
Yes, that's pretty bad to say about other FReepers without providing some factual evidence to back it up.
If anyone was really that nasty to others here they should be banned or at least given a time out.
And that would apply to any Trump OR Cruz supporter who did such a thing.
Joe, what ever happened to personal responsibility?
While some people can be mean, it's them, not the candidate they support doing it.
Why, didn't you, if you've seen such a thing, either use the "Report Abuse" button or just let it slide, you know, like water off the back of a duck? Sticks and stones and all that?
We are in the midst of a primary campaign with a whole slew of candidates, who traditionally say horrible things about each other, exaggerate their opponents foibles and over-proclaim their own achievements. Its always been so.
There is absolutely no reason to attack your peers here on this web site. We're guests in Jim Rob's house and all he's asked us to do is NO PERSONAL ATTACKS.
I'm any case, I'm in Alabama and will vote on 1 March. Looking forward to the day. As of right now, I'm considering Trump, but haven't ruled out Cruz. Beyond these two I'd not sure I'd vote for any of the others.
Can you believe it? After all that's been said here these past few weeks by so many here I still favor both of these guys!
One thing I WON'T do is vote RAT in the general, nor sit out the vote. It's my duty to vote, and even so, sometimes I have to vote against, rather than for someone.
During my military career, I was continuously frauded out of my vote by the either the absentee ballot arriving too late or the local election board (made up of democrats) actually challenging my voter information with some bogus "need more information". Once I had to tell them driving directions to my parent's-in-law house! And of course, by the time they then approved me, it was early December of that election year.
Personally, we (FReepers) differ in opinion, some more enthusiastically than others, and I think some have "ad hominem" somewhere in their family motto, but I try to keep it focused on candidates and issues, not individuals here.
I wasn't looking for an echo chamber when I got here. I found in this place we dragged out the truth sooner or later. FReepers don't whitewash the Government's abuses, and that takes some discussion st times to get to the bottom of what is crackpot, what is propaganda, and what is fact, no matter how outrageous it may seem.
There has been plenty of nasty crap thrown around this election. If every nasty post were removed, it would save bandwidth, but there would be a lot less to read, which sometimes might be a good thing. YMMV.
No biggie. I have worn NFPA 2112 FR (that's Flame Retardant) clothing for years.
Smokin’ Joe, my sincere apologies!
SmokingJoe, let’s be FRiends, ok? The FR in FRiends means Free Republic friends!
Okay since this discussion is what it is.
A little celebration after a win is normal and good. It’s hard for the losing side to see that - just human nature. My thoughts for the weeks prior to Iowa was that if Trump did not win there were going to be a lot of people with bruised feelings. Some had Trump taking the whole race before the first vote was cast and some were actual bullies to anyone who disagreed. Case in point: a Trump supporter called a female poster who disagreed with him the c word. On Free Republic! First time I’ve had to hit the abuse button in my time on this forum.
I cherish civility not only because I’m southern raised by an English mother, but because it truly does grease the wheels of discourse, business and social interaction.
Yes. I’d like to see the end of attack words used against candidates (R) and other posters: evil, nasty, stupid, slimy, liar, etc.
Yes. I’d like to be done with the endless postings of the same mindless, pointless attacks. No. I do not think the Carson thing is a big deal. Carson camp obviously made an error in judgement in releasing the information when they did. I can understand how that ran off the rails, but I`ve yet to see it demostrated that it caused him harm. Yes. I’ve admired Dr. Carson and his work for decades, but he is a political novice and likely his staff are also.
Yes. I’d like to be done with the repeat postings of how Heidi Cruz sat by the highway in tears or how Ted’s daughter didn’t want to hug him. That’s family. Leave it alone. Doesn’t belong in the discussion. Believe me, I have so been where I imagine Heidi was more than once in my life.
Yes. I’d like to see the end of the postings in judgment of one of the candidates or posters Christian experience. There is no one on this forum with standing to make that judgment.
I can even show you how it’s done. Take immigration. I actually read Trump’s immigration position paper (prepared with input from Senator Sessions). That paper has some excellent points but I have not heard Trump speak to those points or flesh them out with plans for implementation. I’ve also read Cruz’s plan. I wish he would distill it down to the steps the President can take and the steps that will need support from Congress - and maybe a bit less lawyer in tone.
Now. I am going to go pack some more boxes, I have to move my business, my household, an aged disabled MIL, a husband who has just had a heart attack, 4 cats and a dog in less than a week and the deal for the house just fell through. If any Freepers feel like offering a prayer on my behalf I would be grateful.
.
If Trump takes the nomination, he does not need the Cruz supporters as much as Cruz will need the Trump supprters. Lots of democrats are telling me they
intend on voting for Trump. When I ask them about Cruz, they turn away. Most say they cant stand him.
I will vote for either one in the general...even Rubio. Why? Just take a long look at what the hell the opposition is offering.
If the Cruz voter will not vote for the candidate offered, then they are committing treason in this election. That is what we as a nation face.
Its either freedom, or communism. The destruction will be competed.
No harm, no foul. Not the first time that has happened.
I began to turn on Cruz with all the nasty articles trashing Trump and then - to my disgust - Sarah Palin. Then the Iowa Caucus and, I’m sorry, he did cheat Carson out of votes. That did it for me. Plus Cruz’s truly annoying speaking voice, fake Elmer Gantry-style preaching and it’s just a bad package.
For those who know the really wonderful Otto Preminger movie “Advise and Consent,” Cruz is the George Grizzard character.
We are all casting pearls before swine, with this one.
He is not capable of seeing error or admitting it.
Prayers up, for you, your family and your move(s)....for peace and His grace and mercy to shine upon you all.
Great post, great list, FRiend.
Agree. Thanks for the reminder :)
Borrowing and adding push polling in SC to it :)
