Did you ever watch the original, not corrected report on CNN (not Twitter)?

This link worked the other day:

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1085531334800368&id=100000305365400&_rdr

15 minutes BEFORE caucus doors opened, CNN was dropping hints that Carson might be dropping out and was not going to NH or SC.

This is what the Cruz people responded to by saying he may be dropping out.

It doesn’t matter. It was Cruz’s responsibility to make sure Carson was dropping out - by placing a phone call or texting. He didn’t because he knew he’d probably get an answer he didn’t want to hear. I hope the other candidates take note and watch this very slippery customer.

Exactly right. This is all CNN’s fault. Everyone that is using it to smear Cruz is bearing false witness.

Carson, in his letter to his donors, is correctly pointing the finger at CNN and not Cruz or anyone on the Cruz staff.

Doesn’t matter.

Carson might be dropping out also means that Carson might not be dropping out.

Ted Cruz (and Rubio) made an assumption, and then chose to act on that assumption in a way that benefits them during a vote.

It was their choice as to how to use whatever information they had or did not have.

And the consequence of that choice will be whatever it is. Maybe nothing, maybe something.

Trump’s suggestions of a do over or a law suit are useless.

The only thing that really matters in this is what any given voter in the future makes of Cruz’s and Rubio’s decision to behave as they did.

From my perspective, I see it as Ben Carson, a newbie, swimming in a shark infested pool with bleeding cuts on both of his legs, and two sharks came up and took a bite out of him.

That’s it.

CNN was dropping hints that Carson might be dropping out and was not going to NH or SC.

Yes, I watched the CNN video several times. They were expressing surprise that Carson was taking a break, and speculating what it meant. But they never said Carson was quitting, or dropping out or in any way ending his campaign.

The Cruz campaign jumped on the speculation and tried to used it to sway votes to Cruz. That can't be explained away. Something like that should actually carry criminal penalties, but this particular scenario could only play out in a caucus situation when a less than ethical campaign is involved. An ethical campaign would have checked to be sure the speculation was correct before spreading it around to caucus sites and trying to influence voters.
