Ben Carson, speaking to reporters at the National Press Club Wednesday, said "it's obvious" that Ted Cruz 's underhanded tactics directly influenced the Iowa caucus results.
"I have been very, very concerned for a very long time about what was happening with our nation and with our government," Carson explained. "Why is it the American people are so restless? Why do they not trust the government?"
"I make no bones about the fact that I am a person of faith," the former neurosurgeon continued. "I believe what it says in Matthew 7:20, the Sermon on the Mount, 'by their fruit you will know them.' Know people not by what they say, but by what they do."
Carson would go on to stress that he hopes the American people not only judge himself, but "all the other people running" for president by that same standard so they are "less likely to make a mistake."
Furthermore, Carson stressed voters "need to think truly about our children" and "what kind of image are we setting for them" by voting for certain candidates.
"Are we holding up the highest values and principles... or are we settling for what we consider to be the best we can get? We can get complete excellence and settle for nothing less."
Carson told CNN's Jake Tapper on Tuesday that while he accepts Cruz's apology, he still believes the Texas senator needs to impose real consequences on his campaign staff.
Hey Gentle Ben....Don’t bring knives to a gun fight bubba.
It is not a “little” issue and it doesn’t take Cruz “foes” to see it. O’Reilly blasted Cruz for this, showed that with just 4 votes per district, Cruz would get the lead he won with.
Cruz went out to 1,500 districts with the lie.
How many actual Iowa caucus voters have come forward to claim they were swayed by the announcement of that tweet? Seriously, has one person come forward? I want real people, real numbers. FACTS. In the end, Carson got more votes than originally thought.
You don’t see it. I get that.
But I wouldn’t be quoting anything Oreilley says on this.
Well I’ve learned a lot from Trump supporters here on FR...
It’s ok for a candidate to use the words “child molestor” while talking about another candidate...and also make fun of his religious experience.
But it’s the end of the world when campaign staffers make a mistake and at worst pull a dirty trick...
And even when the candidate in charge of those staffers apologize...it’s still worthy of disdain and lawsuits.
Maybe you would have liked Cruz better if he had called Carson a bad surgeon???....oh wait...Trump already did that too!!!!
If Carson really believed he was going to do so well in the Iowa caucuses why was he leaving early and taking at least the next three days off from campaigning at such a critical part of the race?
No serious candidate takes three days off right before the New Hampshire primary just to get a change of clothes.
Looks like a guy planning to drop out.
Thank you, you are the first person that I’ve seen mention Rubio people did same thing and did it first but no one is shrieking about it. Here is timeline link.

Carson said as a Christian he had to accept the apology, but he went further. He said after the apology Cruz should fire the staffer that started the big lie. Cruz has refused to get rid of anyone. Cruz is a snake in the grass and has won his last primary. Rubio will come in second to Trump in NH and Trump will win SC unless the SC establishment rigs it for Rubio, which is a real possibility. No way Cruz wins NH or SC. All this slamming and belittling, and lying about Trump from Cruz will hand the nomination to Rubio. And I don’t think Cruz gives a damn.
What he should have done is dropped out before Iowa, if he wasn't going to go on.
Trump took Carson out months ago by implying he is mentally unstable, tried to imply pedophilia about Carson, called him a quack bad surgeon, a liar, and I think he called him lazy too.
Did he say anything about Trump?
“Last night Cruz Communications Director Rick Tyler had a really bad performance on Hannity”
He looked and acted like he was as guilty as hell when trying to explain what happened. He kept glancing down at the floor and didn’t want to look in the camera. My wife looked and at me and said “now that is the look of a man who knows he’s guilty”. I of course agreed.
“In the end, Carson got more votes than originally thought.”
Thanks to malfunctioning Microsoft computers that were counting the votes.
Meant CRUZ and Rubio got more votes thanks to malfunctioning computers. Especially Rubio who carried a grand total of 5 counties out of 99.
That right,he did not blame CNN which told the truth in the report about you Mr. Carson,he did not blame Rubio Donor Conrad Close who tweeted at 6:29Pm,one half an hour before TED Cruz posted anything, that the Rubio campaign is pushing hard that Carson is leaving the race, hoping Rubio picks up the votes I am even more determined to support CRUZ.
He apologizes and took the heat for a Slimey Rubio dirty trick
I don’t agree with your assessment of David. It all depended on God, not David. Scripture in whole is all the proof I need.
He’s never assaulted anyone? So his claims that he was sent to military school in the 8th grade because he assaulted a music teacher are a lie? If he really didn’t say that, he’s got someone to sue!

You're fooling no one.
Trump goes home to New York City a lot and nobody ever claims he’s dropping out. You are doing a very poor job rationalizing the nasty dirty tricks of Ted Cruz.
Unfortunately, he’s Texas’ lying liar...for now. I’m wondering if he’ll even win re-election, to his Senate seat.
O’Reilly?!
That right there is funny
They accused Jesus of the same thing. (notwithstanding the campaign)
