Ben Carson, speaking to reporters at the National Press Club Wednesday, said "it's obvious" that Ted Cruz 's underhanded tactics directly influenced the Iowa caucus results.
"I have been very, very concerned for a very long time about what was happening with our nation and with our government," Carson explained. "Why is it the American people are so restless? Why do they not trust the government?"
"I make no bones about the fact that I am a person of faith," the former neurosurgeon continued. "I believe what it says in Matthew 7:20, the Sermon on the Mount, 'by their fruit you will know them.' Know people not by what they say, but by what they do."
Carson would go on to stress that he hopes the American people not only judge himself, but "all the other people running" for president by that same standard so they are "less likely to make a mistake."
Furthermore, Carson stressed voters "need to think truly about our children" and "what kind of image are we setting for them" by voting for certain candidates.
"Are we holding up the highest values and principles... or are we settling for what we consider to be the best we can get? We can get complete excellence and settle for nothing less."
Carson told CNN's Jake Tapper on Tuesday that while he accepts Cruz's apology, he still believes the Texas senator needs to impose real consequences on his campaign staff.
I’ve lost a lot of respect for Ted Cruz because of his failure to reprimand his staffers.
Last night Cruz Communications Director Rick Tyler had a really bad performance on Hannity defending the campaign’s dirty tricks. He flat out LIED and said the campaign never said or speculated Carson was going to drop out. Even though co-chair Steve King tweeted exactly that.
@SteveKingIA: Carson looks like he is out. Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope.
Geeezz....where have I heard this before?
I just watched his Townhall meeting in NH. Standing room only. Small venue? Yes....but’s that’s how Cruz rolls; by the people, for the people.
So, in essence, you are making the argument that Cruze is not Christ.
We are in complete agreement.
Cruz is making our country a more secular society and decreasing church attendance.Really? Cruz is doing that all by himself?
Yeah because words don’t matter, right Ben?
Carson at a Glance
Moral Issues:
Carson agreed with the courts that Kim Davis was wrong for taking a stand on her religious beliefs (A court just found in favor of a muslim truck driver who refused to deliver alcohol based on religious belief- but bakers apparently aren’t allowed to object on religious beliefs, nor are county clerks according to Carson) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/armstrong-williams-ben-carson-kentucky-clerk
Carson Thinks same sex marriages are just ducky- declaring the ruling the “law of the land.” - http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/carson-huckabee-gay-marriage/2015/06/26/id/652379/
Carson apparently thinks abortions are just ducky too- he said that he “would never advocate it’s illegal for a person to get an abortion.” - http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1992-09-30/news/1992274113_1_abortions-obstetrics-dr
Carson approves of using baby parts from ‘tissue banks’ “To not use the tissue that is in a tissue bank, regardless of where it comes from, would be foolish. Why would anybody not do that?” - https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/ben-carson-says-it-is-foolish-not-to-use-already-aborted-babies-tissues-in
Carson apparently refers mothers with fetuses with birth defects to abortion clinics- “he [Carson] believes in quality medical care, No. 1, and secondly, he believes in people making their own decisions based on facts and information.” - http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/ben-carson-abortion-stance-121456.html?hp=t3_r
Carson believes abortions for rape are just ducky- “I would hope that they would very quickly avail themselves of the emergency room, and in the emergency room, they have the ability to administer RU-486 and other possibilities before you have a developing fetus.” - http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/ben-carson-abortion-stance-121456.html?hp=t3_r
Gun Control:
Carson is for banning “Assault Rifles” http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/28/dr-ben-carson-on-gun-rights-some-weapons-probably-not-appropriate-like-tanks/
Carson has stated conservatives need to be open to the idea of compromise on gun control measures - http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/28/dr-ben-carson-on-gun-rights-some-weapons-probably-not-appropriate-like-tanks/
Carson has stated that local governments should be allowed to ban guns under certain conditions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NM0lldmplM
Carson thinks guns should only be allowed in certain places:
“I had hoped that my NRA speech this year would clarify my position on the second amendment, which I believe is vital to our freedom. As I stated in that speech, Thomas Hobbes, a 17th-century English philosopher when talking about tyranny in Europe, stated that America would never suffer such tyranny because the people were armed. The point that I clumsily was trying to make on the Beck show was that, we should be looking for ways to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of unstable individuals. It was not a well thought out comment by any stretch of the imagination. All of my writings and in-depth statements clearly state that in no way do I wish to compromise the second amendment. I have subsequently had meaningful discussions with the leadership of the NRA concluded that any law-abiding American should have access to any legal weapon for protection, recreation or whatever other legal purpose they may desire. I am now a lifetime member of the NRA. I realize that some people will never believe that and will not go back and research my writings and statements to satisfy themselves.” - https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2015/05/exclusive-ten-questions-with-dr-ben-carson
Energy:
“I don’t particularly like the idea of government subsidies for anything because it interferes with the natural free market,” but then Carson continued, “therefore, I would probably be in favor of taking that $4 billion a year we spend on oil subsidies and using that in new fueling stations.” - http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/opinion/columnists/kathie-obradovich/caucus/2015/05/05/ben-carson-climate-change-renewable-fuel-standard/26945261/
Personal Gain:
“it is naive to count on the honesty and integrity of people responsible for our markets when they stand to gain so much by manipulating the system to their advantage.” (Ben Carson, America the Beautiful, 78-79) -
Taxes:
Carson has stated that he’s for government wage control- http://www.cnbc.com/id/102658083

The deal has been cut.......Carson will back Rubio. This mess he claims, one that he caused himself, has done nothing but boost Rubio up, while the others quarrel. Rubio slides right on by them taking Carson with him.
Jesus spoke nine times more about hell than He did about heaven. Downplaying the reality of eternal punishment by an infinitely Holy Creator is one of the tricks of legalists.
On another note, I have heard that one of Carson's key staffers is a Louis Farrakhan admirer. Ooops. By their fruits you shall know the phonies.
No, I'm making the argument that Cruz is just another political hack. Both he and Rubio participated in this and it's beyond shameful.
Put Trump aside for a moment, Cruz & Rubio didn't give Carson a thought before they pulled this. Carson was looking forward to caucus, kept saying he'd do well. That opportunity, to do well and get that bump is gone. The one caucus where Mrs. Carson walked in to find her husband was supposedly out of the race went big for Carson when they learned he was still in.
Thanks to a couple of junior senators and their political ambitions, we'll never know.
True. What Cruz did was wrong, but he and Trump are still better choices than a GOPe candidate.
Carson is Butthurt because half his staff quit to go work for Cruz.
Carson’s scam ‘campaign’ was just a ruse to sell books anyway.
No, I’m making the argument that Cruz is just another political hack. Both he and Rubio participated in this and it’s beyond shameful.
That’s what it’s looking like to me too. I am really sad about this. I voted for Ted, he sure didn’t run like this when it was his senate run. Looks like he has sold out. So much for being a different type of politician.
Here is the townhall meeting:

Slow, steady and consistent wins the race.
“Is his campaign just one big phony book tour? “
Bingo!
Carson is not a stupid man and knows he has NO chance of actually winning the Presidency. Itâs about the money. The evidence of this is his leaving the campaign for his book tours and not replacing his campaign chairman, national finance chairman, deputy manager and general counsel, who have all quit. Today he announced that half of his other campaign staff have been let go. Heâll hang on until his donations dry up.
He is spending it on totally incompetent campaign staff and advisors.
Have no idea how you got that. The mind plays tricks on people. I’m actually preferring Trump. I believe God can use ANYONE and that it all depends on His mercy. Think on THAT.
And that makes it okay?
None the less, Christ tells us “by their fruits, you shall know them!” This means we are to look at what people do and not at what people say.
Just so you know, although David’s faith counted for righteousness in God’s eyes; indeed he was a prophet and an old testament saint, from whose lineage Christ came, David was an egregious sinner and came under God’s judgment and was punished severely for his sins. Had he not repented from the evils that he did, and turned away from them, his faith would have meant nothing and David would have had no righteousness in God’s eyes.
In the end, Cruz-bots, this was a rotten rotten thing to do Dr. Carson. The Cruz campaign damaged Dr. Carson just as Romney’s did Herman Caine. What a terrible way for the Republican party to treat its black presidential candidates!
Dr. Carson is still in the race, and it is his decision and his right to withdraw if and when he wishes, and at that time to have his day in the sun and endorse the candidate of his choosing. What Cruz did was slimy and wrong! Just like the creepy things that Romney did! What Carson did was inexcusable and I cannot fathom why you Cruzers who are claiming that Cruz is so pure and incorruptable, and only he can fix things in DC are defending these tactics.
You are being way too hard on them.
I have a philosophy called “friend or foe?” if has served me well in my career. It works like this:
Friend: my smallest successes are proof to you that I am a good and smart person to you. My failures only prove to you that I am a fla2ed person. A work in progress.
Foe: my slightest error is pounced upon as proof that I’m stupid, lazy, evil or all three. My greatest accomplishments are ridiculed as lucky or a stopped clock being right twice a day.
Cruz has a lot of foes on FR. Clearly you are one of them.
This time line and context clarifies how little there is to this, though to his foes it is proof, once again of his utter depravity. But opinions vary. :-)
