we used regular TP with our septic system when I was a child...
and I use regular now with my double septic tanks...

There has been such for at least the last two generations, with the popularity of large RV and mobile homes.
Most RV parks require it to be used.
On the technical side, it is manufactured to break down faster to enable and facilitate the process on which septic systems are based, so that leach fields, and treatment plans are not being constantly clogged, and either require expensive, labor intensive unclogging or replacement.
I worked at the largest treatment plant in my area as an Engineer-contract administration (treatment plants are perpetually construction sites) and cause of clogging is too unreal to believe...
Not to derail the thread, but even as a math, science and engineering person most of my life, I am continually astonished at the extent to which complex technology controls our lives and how delicately vulnerable we all are should it fail, and how quickly it can happen.
There are two books I would recommend which, although fiction (and the first difficult to read due to incompetent editing) are total eye openers, and although the sudden collapse of our advanced society unlikely, I guarantee that anyone with an IQ in the high two digits could understand, and be scared poopless...:
One Second After, and One Year After, by William R. Forstchen.
