Donald Trump on Wednesday leveled a bold accusation at one of his chief rivals for the Republican nomination: "Ted Cruz gave us Obamacare."
"He's the one that got Justice Roberts onto the United States Supreme Court," Trump added.
While Cruz vocally supported Roberts' nomination at the time, he was not yet a U.S. senator and therefore could not vote to confirm Roberts to the Supreme Court.

Yeah you win the Troll award.
You are being a hypocrite by saying it’s OKAY for Cruz to attack Trump when he was not a politician, but not the other way around.
Double standards and you KNOW it.
Good God, the man is off the rails. Wow...
Wrong. Read the story.
“While Cruz vocally supported Roberts’ nomination at the time, he was not yet a U.S. senator and therefore could not vote to confirm Roberts to the Supreme Court.”
And please... go back to September 2005, and you’ll see the majority of FReeper comments strongly in support of Roberts’ nomination, because he at the time had a conservative track record.
Bush was not acquainted with Roberts until Cruz so yeah. Roberts and Cruz have been friends for years.
Bush was not acquainted with Roberts until Cruz so yeah. Roberts and Cruz have been friends for years.
All this guy can do is bitch, bitch and more bitching.
Can he talk like a rational adult about any of his policies other than “I’ll bomb the chit out of them or I’ll sue the crap out of them”?
Change the name "Roberts" to Trump for future referance
Nobody saw it coming....except we did.
Roberts had a conservative track record. The majority of conservatives in this country supported that nomination.
Well Rubio would give us the same amnesty Cruz would so that should please Cruz folks.
Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have fought as hard against Obamacare as an patriots I know. This is a low blow coming from Trump. If Trump had used this kind of anger against the democrats he might have won Iowa. He knows the country is angry and he thinks it's angry at Cruz.
Cruz actually wanted his old boss, Michael Luttig to get the job. He supported Roberts once the selection was made. And to be fair, at the time most thought Roberts was a good choice based on his record on the DC Circuit.
Unfortunately, like so many others Roberts appears to have “grown” on the court.
but he is, don’t you see. I say somebody give that man 3 or 4 more IPHONES and make him estatic with tweets.
In reference to the tacky short bus comments often made? New low for Cruz supporter to make fun of special needs. Obama did that too.
In Tedâs own words: âJudge Roberts is a lawyersâ lawyer. And that matters immensely, especially for the U.S. Supreme Court.â âNRO, 7/20/05
âWhen I began practicing, I worked hard to emulate his argument style,ââ Mr. Cruz writes in the memoir, which goes on sale in book stores Tuesday. âYou do not get to be the best Supreme Court advocate of your generation, as John was, without having an exquisite understanding of what makes each of the sitting justices tick.ââWSJ, 6/30/2015
In Tedâs own words: âAs an individual, John Roberts is undoubtedly a principled conservative, as is the president who appointed himâ¦But, as a jurist, Judge Robertsâs approach will be that of his entire career: carefully, faithfully applying the Constitution and legal precedent.ââNRO, 7/20/05
In Tedâs own words: âIn November of 2000, I had spent the past year and half as domestic-policy adviser on the Bush campaign, and was part of the team assembling the lawyers to help litigate Bush v. Gore. We needed the very best lawyers in the country, and I called John and asked him to help. Within hours, he was on a plane to Florida.ââNRO, 7/20/05
Yeah he wasn't for Roberts NOW
FYI I went third party when amnesty McCain ran.
He's a hellion minus the cute.
Ditto for most conservatives NOW.
