There's a truism amongst fighter pilots: you can't fake it at 500 knots and enemy fire all around. One's real character emerges.
That's what's happening as the presidential race has begun. Real results â not polls â are now being felt, and Donald Trump, who beat his chest as the inevitable victor in the polls, is revealing his true character â as is Ted Cruz, who surprisingly bested him in the first live battle, the Iowa caucuses.
As the caucuses commenced, Cruz was accused of maliciously reporting that candidate Ben Carson was dropping out of the race. That would help Cruz, it was theorized, since Carson voters presumably might go to Cruz.
What actually happened, it turns out, is that Carson revealed he was going home after Iowa and not on to New Hampshire, where the next vote will be held and where most expected him to go. CNN reported this with hints that it was strange. Why wouldn't he be going to New Hampshire? Was he dropping out?
Unnamed (so far) elements of Cruz's campaign then, as the caucuses were being conducted and votes being tallied, tweeted basically the same. When Carson, after the election, found this out, he cried foul. Cruz, who all evidence so far indicates had no personal knowledge of his campaign's tactic, nevertheless immediately apologized. Carson eventually blamed CNN, although he was not happy with anyone involved. Details of the matter are still to be revealed.
But Trump, a smart man and certainly aware of these basics â and after a gracious acknowledgement of Cruz's victory â the next day reversed and charged that Cruz had lied to get votes. He is now demanding a new Iowa election.

” because I have no reason to believe a word of it.”
Whether you do or not, apparently the liberals do.
Contrary to popular belief, Trump knows how to climb down from his bombast. Cruz doesn't.
Time will tell, but my guess is Cruz puts both feet in his mouth and shoves them in up to his knees or facts that he doesn't want known come out, one or the other, before SC.
For the sake of the nation, the sooner the better, but a large number of people are already committed to one candidate or another and what's best for the nation is a distant second for them.
Looked at realistically, if an outsider like Trump doesn't win anyone who is elected will be every bit as much a part of the GOPe globalist machine as any of the others would have been. Some will just have a higher retail price than others, that's all. If Trump does win, it'll still be a crap shoot on a great many things, but at least he'll stop the bleeding and stabilize the patient.

“It should be noted that the Establishment Golden Boy Rubio was also advancing the notion that Carson was going to be getting out.”
Cruz was above board and quickly apologized for any misunderstanding. Rubio lied when he said he does not diss other candidates.

“Cruz the fighter pilot, stuttering his way from one tailspin to another.”
‘I forgot’ and ‘Someone else did that’ and ‘I apologize’ doesn’t work in combat.
Exactly. If the GOPe favorite to lose to Hillary, Rubio wins, it’s America’s demise!
Here is what was posted:
The alert said Carson âwill stop campaigning after Iowaâ and urged users to tell people at the caucuses âthey should coalesce around the true conservative who will be in the race for the long haul: TED CRUZ!â
It also included a photo of a TV tuned to CNN, showing the networkâs ever-present âBREAKING NEWSâ banner paired with the headline âCampaign: Carson To Take A Break After Iowa.â
8:20 p.m.: Rep. Steve King feeds the rumor mill
Following the Cruz campaignâs lead, Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who endorsed Cruz in November, tweeted: âCarson looks like he is out.â
Carson looks like he is out. Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope. https://t.co/lW5Js50EMA
â Steve King (@SteveKingIA) February 2, 2016
He linked to a tweet from CNN reporter Chris Moody, which read Carson âwonât go to NH/SC, but instead will head home to Florida for some R&R. Heâll be in DC Thursday for the National Prayer Breakfast.â
As usual, you make stuff up and spout your hateful crap. Do you report directly to Donald or Rove?
“Cruz is a lying, underhanded scumbag... so we should all support him!”
You didn’t really read the article did you?
Glad Cruz may have picked up some otherwise wasted votes. Hope Cruz (or Trump) pick up more votes when Carson drops his fake candidacy and goes home to his weirdo shrine to himself. (And hope that Amnesty rent-boy Rubio gets very few Carson votes.)
Dems and RINOs are confident they’ll be able to strike deals with Trump, he as much said so.
They know they will not be able to with Cruz.
“Does Trump see the words of the Constitution as absolute and set in stone, or does he see the Constitution as a living breathing document, he can interpret the way he wants to get his way. Scalia and Thomas are getting up there in age, and not getting younger. I would hate to see a Republican president who got elected being a pretender choosing their replacements to the Supreme Court..”
Another FReeper and I don’t remember who posted in a comment that “A narcissist surrounded themselves with two kinds of people, those who would pump him up and those he could put down.” I may be paraphrasing. I believe this applies to The Donald and I really don’t want him making Supreme Court nominations. Ted Cruz would make an excellent Supreme Court Justice or Attorney General but either one would be a waste of the opportunity we now have. We need Ted Cruz to make the SC and AG appointments.
Nothing made up, you BS artist.
Cruz (RINO, Goldman Sacs) helped pass the allowance
enabling ObamaTRADE vote.
He is an ObamaTRADE supporter because of his Goldman
Sacs payoff to his wife, and for his SECRET loan.
Will never trust Cruz, again.

Even Jimmy Carter knows that and endorsed Trump because he’s “malleable”, I haven’t heard Trump trumpet this endorsement.

Just because you said it again doesn't mean you're not lying.
So Trumpsters, what kind of justices will your guy send to the Supreme court?
How does he look at the Constitution?
What does he think or know of original intent?
Does he truly believe in the sanctity of life, and that the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness applies to the unborn as well as the born, guaranteed in the Bill of Rights?
I would very much like to know from both Trupsters and especially Trump himself. Just claiming to be anti establishment, and spouting cheesy one liners to get a bunch of laughs and ovations isn't enough any more, because the stakes are now way too high.
When we go into the voting booth to pick our nominee for President in the upcoming primaries, we have to get this right the first time, no ifs, buts, or ands.
I don't want to get all excited that an anti establishment guy, supposedly on our side, got elected POTUS, and find out the hard way I elected a guy that would make former New York Gov. Michael Bloomberg envious. Remember him. He was supposed to be a rich, anti establishment, non politician, and look what New York really got. Want someone forcing you to live the way he wants you to by taxing and banning those things that bring you life, liberty, and happiness, because he thinks it's for your own good?
I sure don't, and until Trump starts answering questions, or talking about the Constitution, the basic fundamental rights given to us by God, and the government's real job of protecting those rights, he's not ready or worth considering for the job of POTUS in my personal and humble opinion.
Excellent analysis and comment.
Trump mentioned two names on Sat. night, the only candidate to do so.
Why don't you do a little homework on them instead of just coming on here and flapping your rhetorical gums?
“fighter pilot”
Nope. Still looks like a lawyer to me.
