Tea Party-backed Senate candidate Ted Cruz points with pride to the army of small conservative donors supporting him. But his largest longtime contributor is a gay billionaire who supports same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization, campaign finance filings show.
Peter Thiel, a German-born hedge fund manager and founder of the online payment system PayPal, gave Cruz $251,000 in 2009 for his aborted run for attorney general. The money represented 19 percent of the total raised for that campaign, which Cruz ended after Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to run for re-election.
Thielâs political and financial support for gay rights and legal marijuana, among other causes, have made him a lightning rod in the U.S. Senate race. donations from Thiel show Cruz is âdeceivingâ Texans about his political alliances.
Itâs hypocritical and deceitful for Ted Cruz to claim to be a Tea Party Republican when his largest donor spends millions of dollars pushing the opposite side of conservative issues important to Republicans
Thiel is listed as a member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg group, which stages a yearly gathering that brings together influential world leaders in politics, business and other fields to discuss international affairs. The secret meetings have prompted protests by activists who allege they are being staged to create a new world order and capitalist domination.
Glenn Addison, who was in the GOP Senate primary but didnât make the runoff, said the Bilderberg connection worries him.
âBirds of a feather flock together,â Addison said. âI think voters need to be concerned and ask about whatever alliances people have that are running for office.â

Thiel is also 100% for open borders and UNLIMITED H1-B visas. In fact Thiel has given MILLIONS to groups advocating for unlimited foreign worker visas. Recall that before Trump entered the race, Cruz himself called for a 500% increase in H1-Bs and an INCREASE in the already insane legal immigration level of 1 million/year.
Isn’t it wonderful? They can agree to disagree about gay marriage and interact on a personal level of mutual respect. I love love love that Cruz NEVER trashes anyone. He can respect their view and disagree and leave it at that. He reflects the absolute best of America.
One really needs a good gospel orientation to deal with this stuff without falling into some kind of injurious fascination... IMHO.
And this is what I haven’t heard a huge amount about from Ted, doesn’t mean he isn’t like that, but just sayin’. I’d think he’d be gaga (excuse the term) not for showtunes but for Christian praise numbers.
Everybody should be praying that Ted doesn’t get overcome. Unlike a certain person who printed a list of scandal about Donald Trump, I don’t want to put scandal ahead of prayer. But gospel is the only thing that can overcome the devils’ scheme involved here. Anything less is going to get out foxed.
The absolute best of America is pretty pitiful if it never surpasses this.
God did say, keep yourselves from the idols.
And anyhow I thought you opused?
“The secret meetings have prompted protests by activists who allege they are being staged to create a new world order and capitalist domination.”
Am I supposed to be pleased, or displeased, by efforts to create “capitalist domination?”
“Homosexual activity is happening in Trump-owned properties.”
Shhhhhh....it’s also happening in Texas too because it’s against the law to do to gays what ISIS does because they are gay.
I know! Blows my mind too, amirite? Trump needs to get some cameras set up in those hotel rooms ASAP!!
Ted’s father has wished the unbiblical “dominion theology” on Ted; doesn’t mean Ted bought it, but it could be dangerous in its consequences if believed. That God has somehow served up the whole world on a silver platter to Christians, so they should just belly up to this bar. I don’t think so. I think it is currently a spoils system, where the complete conquest awaits the actual arrival of the Master.
Anyhow approaching this stuff without a very CLEAR spiritual agenda to share gospel with those caught in sin, is to ask to get entangled.
“For a straight guy, Cruz just happens to associate with an exceptional number of gay men.”
Three is an “exceptional number”? That’s not even enough to put together a proper Village People tribute act.
Which he then lied about!
That’s a very good point, HiTech. And I agree that we should be praying for him.
Because he is surrounded with all manner of people who could cause serious problems for him, personally.
It’s not really (to me) even that he does this (sin isn’t ‘contagious’ or even tempting if a person’s spirit is strong). It’s the context he & his supporters create that makes it perilous for him. What I’m saying is that he’s maybe misguided in his approach.
So Cruz can bring in support from gay, pro-pot individuals...wow and Trump says he can bring in these types to support him!
This is good news. Cruz can get support of those who aren’t Evangelicals!
And?
2009?
Shouldn’t talk about Trump like that even though his first business partners were mobsters and he did do a big deal with George Soros.
Thiel is a very smart guy. He appears to be rich and successful enough that he doesn’t need favors. He calls himself a “conservative libertarian” and has contributed to a lot of Republicans. Unlike other Silicon Valley billionaires, who appear to be mostly atheists, Thiel says that he is Christian. Maybe he admires Cruz as a fellow smart guy with legal training and conservative views. Thiel was interviewed for clerkships by two Supreme Court justices, but unlike Cruz, he was not accepted.
“Wonder what favors Peter Thiel expects in return?”
Cruz is pretty well-known on his views on gay marriage. State’s rights. I don’t know - but I imagine pot as well. I’m guessing the big thing for this guy is paypal and the internet. Recall there was/is the push to get stuff on the internet taxed, and the gov’t wants to take over more of the internet. I imagine Cruz (and this Thiel guy) is against that.
I hope you meant that to be funny, Boogieman, because it is. Good one!
I really have no idea what the ‘’official’’ exceptional parameters are. I can tell you that if a person admitted, right here on FR, that they associate- in any way what-so-ever (in all caps, mind you) with even 1 gay person, in their whole life, ever, that confessor would be excoriated to hell & back by the very people who staunchly support Ted Cruz.
People are always going to make hay with hypocrites. Even me.
Who died & made them god? (Of course, there would be hell to pay if I were god, too. That’s why I leave such things up to Him.)
Ted Cruz has gay friends...oh no/sarc.
Is Cruz eligible?
