Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is a “natural born citizen” according to the Illinois Board of Elections.
The state’s BOE ruled that Cruz met the citizenship criteria to appear on the state’s primary ballot.
Two state residents, William Graham and Lawrence Joyce, challenged Cruz’s eligibility with the board, claiming his name should not appear on the March 15 primary ballot because his candidacy did not comply with Article II of the U.S. Constitution. :
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen
of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been Fourteen Years
a Resident within the United States.”
The board rejected the objections, The Huffington Post first reported. According to HuffPo, Joyce does not plan to appeal the decision due to lack of resources but hopes someone else will.
“The Candidate is a natural born citizen by virtue of being born in Canada to his mother who was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth,” the board stated, saying that Cruz “did not have to take any steps or go through a naturalization process at some point after birth,” adding, “Further discussion on this issue is unnecessary.”
Graham also filed a separate challenge to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio ‘s eligibility for the presidency.
New York billionaire and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump whacked Cruz repeatedly over whether the Texas senator qualified to be on the presidential ballot for the last month and urged Cruz to go to the courts to be declared a natural born citizen.
“It’s not anything that’s going to happen, and I’m not going to be taking legal advice anytime soon from Donald Trump,” Cruz said in response to Trump’s accusations at the January 14 Republican debate.
This won’t stop the trumpettes.
“This wonât stop the trumpettes.”
Don’t you have any idea how corrupt the Illinois government is?
We just had an earlier news story in the last 24 hours where an Illinois election commissioner resigned after calling a femal reporter the b-word during an interview in which he was caught misappropriating government funds.
You don’t really believe the Madigan controlled Illinois government is going to allow a ruling that would expose Obama’s ineligibility to be President, now did you?
Why are you so premature in your assumptions? I am going to vote for Trump in my primary but will vote for Cruz in the general election if that is what happens. Perhaps the vitriol, pessimism and hasty carping needs to stop.
I am glad this issue may be put to rest if more states follow suit. To my mind, we have a halfrican Muslim in that office who ought not ever have gotten there, but what do I know? So this NBC thing with Cruz is a non issue to me now. But, I’m a dumb ass country boy my wife always tells me.
Good News, now Cruz is eligible to be Trump’s VP!
But, but, I thought Cruz was going to face one lawsuit that would utterly stop his campaign in its tracks. So much for Trump logic.
It’s irrelevant.
If Cruz becomes the nominee, the RATS aren’t going to go: “Oh, the Illinois Board Of Elections” says he’s okay” - they’re going to take it to court anyway.
“The board rejected the objections, The Huffington Post first reported. According to HuffPo, Joyce does not plan to appeal the decision due to lack of resources but hopes someone else will.”
As will every other board and court. It’s a waste of time.
Not qualified to rule on this.
I am stopping reading here before the insanity comes, lol.
One opinion not binding on any other state. The issue must be litigated in the courts once and for all.
First eight US Presidents born on foreign territory agree.

Why on Earth would you expect an Illinois government to rule against Cruz and thereby expose Obama as an illegal POYUS. Don’t you have any understanding at all just how corrupt Illinois government is?
Trump is saying that the courts must be involved eventually. It is a Constitutional issue that needs to be addressed.

IRREFUTABLE AUTHORITY HAS SPOKEN
(Oct. 18, 2009) The Post & Email has in several articles mentioned that the Supreme Court of the United States has given the definition of what a “natural born citizen” is. Since being a natural born citizen is an objective qualification and requirement of office for the U.S. President (and VP), it is important for all U.S. Citizens to understand what this term means.

Exactly. Do not forget who the real enemy is. The Democrats are gonna hammer this issue home if Ted is the nominee. This is nothing compared to what those damn lefties and the media have in store for him.
Read the Constitution, they exempted themselves, knowing there could not be any natural born citizens for a while.
Your ignorance is showing
Sweet, the final nail in the natural born clause..... lets see how many freepers we can line up to strike the nail.
Oh and by the “virtue of being born in Canada to a American citizen mother”.... well that means that any American woman can currently travel to Iran/Russia/China (pick your enemy) and have a child with the leader of said country, and viola elegible to be POTUS.
And very few here see a problem with this? If this is the true definition of natural born citizen, then I wonder how the founders saw it as a safeguard to the highest position in the land?
Born here of two American citizens at birth. So simple, but stil,l the march towards removing the natural born clause continues.....

You’ve tried that fraud before, and it is utterly false as I pointed out before. The King had previously organized the british North American colonies into their own political entity and made them citizens of those colonies answerable to their respective colonial legislatures. These men were born with the duty of obedience and allegiance to their respective colonial governments and thence to the Sovereign of England and Great Britain. After the United States of America declared and maintained its Independence against the King and the King alienated the inhabitants of the former British colonies; these men retained their original citizenship and allegiance to their native governments, but not to their governments’ former sovereign and King. The British North American colonies were the King’s proprietary holdings and not the territories of England or Great Britain.
