If the internecine warfare between the two top populist candidates continues, the conservative majority of the Republican Party could once again be forced to live with a nominee chosen by the Establishment.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump placed first and second in Iowa. But if they donât now combine forces and put aside their rancor, they may each find themselves losing the nomination to the third-place finisher, Establishment favorite Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Entering New Hampshire, Cruz and Trump have to play it smart. Cruz must recognize that he needs Trump to win in the Granite State. If Rubio wins instead, he will gain so much momentum that he will be almost impossible to stop.
Cruz is smart and must know he canât take the Granite State, which has fewer of the conservative and evangelical voters that drove him to victory in Iowa. According to Iowa exit polls, Cruz garnered a third of the evangelical vote and was the choice of 44 percent of voters who consider themselves âvery conservative.â
Trump, on the other hand, is up by 20 points in New Hampshire and has a real chance of victory â a win that could send the soaring Rubio straight back to earth, possibly wrecking his chances and providing a major blow to the hopes of the Establishment.

No. Let Trump join with his friend hitlery. They have more in common.
I feel neither is VP material.
Trump's ego would not allow him to be VP to anyone.
Cruz would be better suited for Attorney General then Supreme Court.
So, what would the possibilities look like.
Cruz/Sessions
Trump/Palin
Trump/Romney
“I couldnât agree more. Trump was killing it when he was talking border walls and moslem bans. Cruz too felt much stronger talking issues. I know they both want to win but I think focusing on each other is a mistake.”
I do miss those days. As a Cruz supporter, I was loving the way Trump was blowing up the GOPe with his political incorrectness. He needs to get back to that and stop trying to tear down the most conservative candidate in this race. Maybe that will happen in NH if he sees Rubio or someone else as a greater threat.
I am happy for Trump supporters and their cause. I cannot stomach any more of the Donald though.
I’ve been concerned about this as well.
Did yuou know that when the Romans were besieging Jerusalem, there were at least two separate Jewish Rebel factions fighting each other instead of the Romans?
Cruz and Trump or Trump and Cruz control more than half of the Republican electorate. Add Carson and the establishment thugs are outnumbered, as they always are. But too many conservatives fighting each other allows the other party to triumph.

I think people are overplaying Cruz’s reliance on evangelicals.
I identify as evangelical and I do think they will be more mobilized than ever this year, but I do think Cruz reaches well beyond our group.
If it were only about evangelicals, then Huckabee would not have dropped out and Ben Carson would have done much better.
People want a strong conservative. Way back when a Kennedy lost the Mass senate seat, it was apparent that even in the Northeast, people would like to see principled conservatives be given a chance to govern.
To pretend that moderate Republicans have not been given a chance at governance is absurd.
A broad public would like to give the constantly demonized conservatives a chance to prove their constant advocacy.
I think Trump hurt himself more than he knows with all his Cruz bashing. I think his numbers will be down in New Hampshire.
GOPE is clearly trying to go all in on Rubio. I don’t think that will happen but they also want Trump and Cruz to damage each other enough to allow Cruz to sneak in. This is not 2012 so I don’t think that master plan is going to work out for GOPE.
You’re whistling past the graveyard. Grow up and deal with the issue or are you going to wait until October and lose in court and screw everybody?
The loser can’t help the winner.
Back in 1988, Dole won the IA cauci on a Monday night. On Wednesday the sitting POTUS invited his VPOTUS, who’d just lost IA, for a private lunch in the WH. Nonetheless, pix of the private lunch were widely distributed. Basically the POTUS was endorsing him.
The VPOTUS went on to win NH, the nomination, and election. IIRC, as he came out to make his victory speech on election night, his opponent having conceded, his first public statement was : THANK YOU, NEW HAMPSHIRE!
Lots of Rubio supporters on this thread.!
Maybe he be talking about Trump n huckleberry or Lil Rick, teaming up.
I think Trump burned any Cruz bridges with his sorry mouth.
I think Trump burned a lot of voter bridges with his sorry ‘New York values’ mouth.
I don't know what that is, but I know I ain't gonna go and google it!
You seem very confused. See tagline.
Its. Just. That. Simple.
Yeah. I'm thinking googling "Rubio gay bubble bath" at work with Safe Search off is asking for trouble...
Turn the picture off and listen to Rubio and he sounds a lot like Richard Simmons.
You mean, even now, you can’t tell Trump talk from Trump reality?
He does talk a meanass game, unless you really listen to it.
It will be like 1.2 million search results in 0.02 seconds of images I'll never be able to un-see. ;-)
