I was happy for Cruz but his speech sucked. He started with the Gd thing, which is always horrible: Gd wanted ME to win in Iowa, because clearly Gd hates the other guys. WRONG. Then the rest was gloating about winning.

I was expecting happiness, gratitude (to the voters), and kind of a fight speech for all the work ahead. I was disappointed he took the tack of victory is meeeee.

I’m starting to dx him as on the autism spectrum. He really doesn’t have social smarts. Of course, I have the greatest love for people with autism so that’s fine. But he needs an advisor with more sensitivity to what’s appropriate.

Anybody who watched all of Ted Cruz's far too long, rambling, overly flamboyant speech last nite would say that was his Howard Dean moment!

Or not.

Perhaps Trump should drop The Apprentice and switch to The Biggest Loser.

I am certainly a Cruz supporter - but his speech was too long and rambling. Rubio's was very good, and I thought Trumps was a good tone too. My wife says repeatedly that Cruz is too preacher style for her. But she couldn't vote for trump - ever she says. I think she likes Rubio.

All that being said - I think Cruz had his reasons for rattling on and on. He was getting FREE political airtime from the networks. It was actually funny how Fox had to keep showing it on and on. And had to tape delay Hillary's speech. And by individually naming and thanking some of his many supporters in the field - I gotta think that really helps motivate his other supporters out there in the field as he goes on. Probably a smart move overall. He actually finally got some free air time like trump has always been getting.

I like Cruz and he was right to take advantage of the chance to give a victory speech. It may be a while before he gets another chance.

No, Donnie boy... Dean’s moment was a crushing defeat, followed by a screaming rant.

Get over it, loudmouth.. you lost.

Cruz supporters are going to hate me for this, but this is my honest opinion. Rubio’s speech was good, forceful, short, and well-delivered (though I still don’t like Gang-of-8 Rubio—don’t get me wrong), but Cruz’s was very boring and rambling and went on forever, as my eyelids drooped. He also seemed terribly inauthentic like a cross between a televangelist asking for money, a second-rate actor, and a lawyer delivering his closing argument. I ended up just watching Hillary’s speech on CNN at the same time, instead of the rest of Cruz’s on Fox. Naturally, Cruz was still droning on even after Hillary had long finished, even though he began far earlier. Out of his, Rubio’s, Trump’s, Hillary’s, and Bernie’s speeches, I thought Cruz’s was by far the worst, both in delivery and content (putting ideological issues aside).

Trump is exaggerating with the comparison with Howard Dean, but it isn’t just “sour grapes” on his part to suggest that a bad speech was a bad speech. Cruz did himself no favors in his speech last night.

5 times longer than Reagan’s after he beat Carter for the Presidency,. I said last night to my dad I think he’s going to start speaking in tongues any second...

nobody likes to listen to a 30 plus minute rambling sermon after watching election returns for 3 to 4 hours

anybody who didn’t think that was a victory speech from hell try watching the whole thing again and I bet you can’t do it

Well, if the worst thing to be said about Cruz’s night in Iowa is that he needs practice on his victory speeches I doubt Ted would complain. Even those given in November are rarely historic. And suspect he’d be happy to accept more practice! Meanwhile Trump did his second place speech well in spite of being little practiced in such. And Rubio overdid things in third. You’d have thought he’d won.

I don’t know if it was a Howard Dean moment, but it was not a good speech.

Just a friendly warning to those Cruz supporters who are foolish enough to gloat over last nights victory. The more you gloat, the more painful it’s going to be for you next week when reality rears its ugly head.

Serious question: I never watch the news. I get all my info online and radio, so I rarely if ever see video of the candidates. Is Trump always that orange? For someone who never sees him, it was quite striking.

Typical Trump: follow up a loss with the most petty, childish things you can think of.

I like Cruz, but thought his speech was bad, with little appeal to independents, and way too long.

Despite a couple of stumbles (he needs to talk slower), Rubio gave a better speech - even a bit moving at times - that was directed to the American people, not just conservatives.

Maybe Cruz’s speech was a collection of soundbites to use in future political ads.
