Isn’t it the candidate prerogative to announce he is dropping out? I think telling people right before they vote that their candidate says he is dropping out is pretty low.

I’m not a fat of Cruz. But I want to hear from voters who changed their votes from Carson to Cruz because of the announcement. No harm. No foul.

Yes. But it’s also quite reasonable to tell people, “Look, your guy is NOT in it for the long run, why waste your vote?”

If anyone in the Cruz camp (not a mere precinct captain, those are untrained volunteers) actually stated, “Carson has quit the race,” that’d be a problematic untruth. But when Carson says he’s leaving the campaign trail in the middle of the caucuses and right before New Hampshire, and Cruz’ people say he’s leaving the campaign trail without including the full context (if they even KNEW the full context)... well... that’s not Cruz’ fault.
