Iâve expressed before my puzzlement that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump could win so many disciples among the Christians who make up a hefty portion of the Republican base.
Trump is an insulting, profane, thrice-married, megalomaniacal billionaire from New York City who canât even pronounce 2 Corinthians correctly. Indeed, he seems to proudly stand for everything the Christian faith supposedly opposes.
And yet a great throng of Christians love the guy.

On the contrary I find that authoritarians exist on the other side of the political spectrum. For example when a Christian baker states that he will not make a wedding cake for a gay couple the authoritarians come after him with the force of law.
I think history has shown there can be both left wing and right wing authoritarians.
So Paul Prather, a minister from some little place in Kentucky with a population a bit of 7000 people, has it all figured out about Trump.
Let the venom flow preacher, hand that snake to the deacon next to ya!
When I saw the source, I didn’t even bother reading the article. I knew the gist of it was going to be “BECAUSE XIANS IS STOOOOOPID HUR DURR”.
I guess the author decided to put the psychological twist of “THEY’RE SHEEPS WHO CAN’T THINK FER THEMSELFS THEY NEEDS A LOUD PREACHER-TYPE TO TELL THEM WHUT TA DOOOOOO HERP DERP”.
I think that the election this year is more about establishment vs. the people rather than conservative vs. liberal, or Christian vs. liberal. I think this is why many Christians are supporting Trump. He is likely the only one who can stop the downward spiral - and he is likely the only one who can be elected.
Wonder when the mystery of the Muslim support for Obama will be solved?
There is something to be said for forcefulness when the alternative is that the ship lists over so badly that it capsizes.
Trump would be a better recovery president than he would be a fair-times president. But like the Daniel of the Old Testament we do well to understand the times.
and I think you’re correct
Irony.
I think Trump’s second place in Iowa — he got a B to Cruz’s A — is a lesson for him to trust less in image and to focus better.
It wouldn’t be the first time it happened to him. He was sent to military school after an underachieving teen life and then after that his attitude was better focused and he began to succeed.
A humbler Trump — one who knows he needs America’s buy-in to play a part in making America great again — would also sell better.
Its simple. Muslims support Satan hence they do the same for one of their own.
That’s pretty much my estimation on the whole scenario as well.
I’m rather enjoying people’s true personalities come out when somebody disagrees with them.
If you support ____ you’re not Christian!
If you support ____ you’re not Conservative!
Childish to the last!
Which isn’t the least biblical sentiment in the world (”I urge that prayers be made for kings and all who are in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness”). If we win an ideological champion but he cares little about whether America is a doormat, it is Pyrrhic. We might never win another ideological champion in our lifetime.
End of the day, Americans are know they are electing a President, not best preacher
Some of us are willing to be led unquestioningly and some aren’t. Some are unreserved when the man on the white horse appears and some want to check his saddle bags and demand to know where he’s from and how he intends to save the town. When he and the former start calling the doubters idiots and insist they shut up and get on board it’s only going to harden the resistance. His congratulatory speech last night may indicate that he learned a lesson. We’ll see.
Mystery of Liberals resolved. These people are idiots. This article from the Sacramento Bee-S is nearly unreadable. It makes no sense. Opinions so meshed with alleged facts that you jump from here to there.
Total mush.
Even worse is to use/abuse superficial criteria.
For example: You’re against draconian laws towards people sleeping around, therefore you are not a Christian. You believe in the existence of a social safety net, therefore you are not Conservative.
Well let’s see if we can get the devil out of here (literally, let Satan get behind us rather than we counting on him to support us) and, yes, progress. Progress in the heavenward direction.
Those whom the Lord loves, He also chastises. Yesterday was a sprint, not the entire race. Losing a sprint can teach a lesson that will serve well to win the larger race.
I knew Donald had the class in him, at least had the advisors to whom he was willing to give a listening ear.
It isn’t the first time Donald needed an attitude adjustment in his life, and it isn’t the first time he’s benefited upon getting one.
Cruz getting his head so soon might be a bigger danger for him. Will he end up being the proud one, the hare who sits out the race in laziness?
Those whom the Lord loves, He chastises. Let’s watch for larger meaning in the nip and tuck of this race.
Well said...
FWIW, IMHO I don’t think a Cruz or Trump Presidency will change much. Our problems and the solutions to them are in the Spiritual realm. I’m still looking up!
