CRUZ HITS TRUMP ON HEALTH CARE - AND HE'S KIND OF RIGHT - Locked in a close battle in Iowa, Ted Cruz is turning to health care in an attempt to separate himself from rival Donald Trump. A brutal ad airing in Iowa links "HillaryCare" and "ObamaCare" with "TrumpCare" - and uses Trump's own words against him.
"Everybody's got to be covered, this is an un-Republican thing for me to say," the ad quotes Trump saying on 60 Minutes last fall. "[And] the government's gonna pay for it."
Cruz pushed this message further on several Sunday shows. "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for ObamaCare," Cruz claimed on Meet The Press. "Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have the identical position on health care. Which is they want to put the government in charge of you and your doctor. Now my views are polar opposites."
- TrumpCare remains vaguely defined. Trump called Cruz a "total liar" and declared, "I am so against Obamacare." But the thing is, Trump has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to some form of universal coverage - just as Cruz suggests. However, we still don't know any specifics of a Trump health plan, or how he'd pay for it.
Pressed again on Sunday, he still refused to offer details. "We'll work something out," Trump said on ABC's This Week. "Nobody knows health care better than Donald Trump."

Trump even can’t believe the sheep that accept whatever nonsense he decides that day to spout.
I am sure he laughs behind their back all the time just as conservatives do.
This whole thing is simply bizarre. There is only one proper conservative answer to what to do about health care, and that is to leave it up to the states.
What so many people miss is that making health care a federal responsibility means that whatever health care plan gets enacted is not constrained by budgeting realities. The states all have some form of a balanced budget requirement. Any plan they pass has to fit within a budget, because most states prohibit deficit spending.
The big trick by the left is that by making this a federal responsibility, they can be irresponsible as hell about the fiscal effect because they'll just deficit spend.
And to make matters worse on a practical level, the federal government's ability to spend endlessly on whatever health care bill they pass will encourage the jacking up of prices by providers who know the way entitlement programs work.
I'm still in awe at the alleged conservatives supporting Trump's statement about the federal government making sure (through whatever mechanism, single payer or not) that there is universal coverage. It's mind-boggling on a supposedly conservative site.
"So, what am I going to do, contribute to Republicans? Am I going to contribute to, I mean, one thing I'm not stupid. Am I going to contribute to a Republican for my whole life when they get, they run against some Democrat. And the most they can get is one percent of the vote," he said, noting his "good relationship" with and donations to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Trump last donated to Schumer directly in 2010, though he had made donations ranging from $250 to $2,000 since 1996.
"I mean, I've contributed to Schumer, I contribute - I've known Schumer for many, many years. And I have a good relationship with him. The fact is, that I think it is time maybe that we all do get along," he told Hannity. - Source
Trump: "I have a heart. I want people taken care of. If people have no money. We have to help people. But that doesn't mean single payer. It means we have to help people. If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said on ABC's 'This Week'. ... As he did in the "60 Minutes" interview, Trump said his plan would be to work with hospitals and doctors to set up a better system. And then Trump took another dig at Cruz. "I mean, maybe he's got no heart. And if this means I lose an election, that's fine, because, frankly, we have to take care of the people in our country. We can't let them die on the sidewalks of New York or the sidewalks of Iowa or anywhere else," Trump said.

You obviously don’t know what socialized medicine is.
Socialized medicine is what we have now.
The republicans in congress are fully funding it. Cruz is right there in the middle of it. He is part of the problem.
Ok, specifics, how will he do that?
Cruz's mother = American.
And Cruz's father... [Let's unpack that a bit]
"....But look closer at the bolder portion. It never says that the father has to be a citizen of the United States at the time the child is born. All it says is that citizenship "shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States." It is indisputable that Rafael Cruz was in the United States for a period of time prior to both Ted's birth and his marriage to native born American citizen Eleanor Elizabeth Darragh Wilson in 1969. He fled Cuba in 1957 at the age of 18, arriving in Texas. There, he attended the University of Texas, graduating with a degree in mathematics in 1961. He even married his first wife there, Julia Ann Garza, in 1959. They later divorced, but not before he had two daughters with her. He was also granted political asylum in 1961 upon his graduation from UT."....
Anyone who has purchased healthcare for their company knows that not being allowed to cross state lines is a bogus restraint of trade. Trump is stating a common sense solution. Of course when Trump says it, its bad, but when Ted says it, its great.
He is not promoting single payer either, ‘cept for the fact we already have it for Medicaid and Medicare, which neither he nor Cruz will change.
Please cut the crap.
Lol, strong leadership???
Supporting crony ethanol subsidies, wow, what a profile in courage!
Can we give him the Nobel Peace Prize, just like the other cult leader hope and change leader?

Yeah, it's brilliant in its own way. I've read more than a few Freepers saying their priority is to destroy the Republican Party. That's great, except that leaves just one major party to win the Presidency and huge majorities in both houses of Congress. Wonderful.
Because of the whole vote-counting fiascos in 2008/9, the Democrats actually only had a very short period where they had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. That tiny window was big enough for them to pass ObamaCare.
Imagine what's it's going to be like when the destruction of the GOP gives them a filibuster proof majority that lasts for years.
Thanks, Donald!
Not single payer, wait for people to collapse in the street and then take them to the hospital, and work the cost out with the hospitals and doctors ahead of time. Plus the government will pay for it. That’s what Trumpers call a plan, huh?
Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?
Donald Trump: There’s many different ways, by the way. Everybody’s got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, “No, no, the lower 25 percent that can’t afford private.” But—
Scott Pelley: Universal health care?
Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.
Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of how?
Donald Trump: They’re going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably—
Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?
Donald Trump: —the government’s gonna pay for it.

Well it’s still a little early. I’ve heard Cruz is going to repeal Obamacare - great! Then what?
Thank God Cruz’ Big Money donors are around to tell us what to think!. Without them, we just wouldn’t know what to think.
Must make the Cruz supporters proud to be in bed with all those ehem, charitable donors. They will always tell us the truth and have NO self interest, in the message.
Thank God for such honest brokers. /sarc off
Last time I remember it like this was 2003, with all the “pragmatists” pushing Schwarzenegger.
How did that work out? Pretty much like many of us said it would.
” I have a heart, I want people taken care of........”
Spoken like a true leftist, they all have hearts and love spending other people’s money to prove it.
Of course, with his own billions, he doesn’t have a heart and doesn’t take care of anyone.
True leftist talk.
Cruz's bill, called the Health Care Choices Act, would allow people to buy health insurance across state lines, long a Republican health policy goal. It would also repeal Title I of ObamaCare, which would undo much of the law, including the mandate to buy insurance, the insurance marketplaces and subsidies to help people afford coverage.

Cruz's plan is the most detailed, in that he has provided legislative text. The other plans are not yet formal legislation and have only been outlined in op-eds. Questions such as the size of the tax credits remain on the House chairmen's plan.
Unfortunately, critics of Trump tend of focus on "he said Two Corinthians rather than Second Corinthians" instead of his past support for liberal positions, and Cruz critics focus on "Cruz should run for Prime Minister of Canada" rather than Cruz's past proposals to massively increase legal immigration.
