The seemingly endless presidential campaign finally gets real Monday, with Iowa voters heading to the polls for the state's caucuses.
The candidates blitzed the Hawkeye State in a final push Sunday, making public demonstrations of their faith and getting in their last jabs.
Both the Republican and Democratic races are considered up for grabs, with the winners certain to get a burst of momentum.
In a show of solidarity with the evangelical Christians who dominate the GOP caucuses, Donald Trump began the day at a nondenominational church in Council Bluffs with his wife, Melania.
Melania Trump took Communion from a silver tray, but Trump thought it was a collection plate and reached into his pocket to donate before realizing his mistake.
"I thought it was for offering," he said later with a laugh.

I’m all for criticizing Trump on issues where he deserve it. But this makes his critics seem quite petty and small.
“Trump could drag a baby across broken glass and there are folks that would say, âAwwww, the Donald is so compassionate. He only dragged the baby a three feet rather than the whole way...what a great guy.â
Well, yeah, got me there. So Trump isn’t used to taking communion before forking out money and he reaches for his wallet, then laughs at his own mistake. Boy, that’s really a game-changer in this hotly contested race - right up there with dragging a baby over broken glass (well, according to you, that is).

Agreed, and I have taken issues with some of Trump’s statements in the past, but there isn’t any candidate that a sane person will agree with all the time on every issue.
As I’ve stated already this morning, the TDS here on FR has reached pandemic proportions, full decontamination suits may be required by Midnight Central time tonight.
Thanks
So what is a “non-denominational” church anyway? Is that like the “Church of What’s Happening Now”.?
You’ll have to ask the Reverend LeRoy.
Well that really changes my mind about Trump...and I WAS going to vote for him....sigh
I was thinking the same thing. The Bible tells us we will have to answer for every idle word from our mouths. I think making fun of a Brother praying might fit that. It’s just astounding that any Christian could support Trump over Cruz. Cruz is a lifelong born again Christian and Trump hasn’t been to church in 30 years. I think is shows a terrible shortcoming in our churches today to be fooled so easily. America is truly headed for Judgement.
ROTFLMBO
Yes, Christians should never mention “the body of Christ” in church. Especially high profile Christians. They should just sit there and shut up. And put money on the communion tray.
You all really need to visit an English-language Orthodox parish some time.
When the collection baskets came around after the Liturgy in our Serbian Orthodox parish 2 Sundays ago, I said “Uh-oh! Here it comes!” That was even though I had made out an offering check the night before after Preparation prayers for Communion.
Neither do I.
Yes. Anyone who uses biblical terms like “the body of Christ” is a “religious zealot” who deserves to be shunned and ridiculed.
To hell with Christians. Up with Trump, our manly messiah!
Cruz wasn't in church when he said this. He was at a campaign rally.
From Drudge: At a stop Saturday at Darrell's Place in Hamlin, Iowa, Cruz urged his supporters to "awaken the body of Christ that we may pull back from the abyss."
It wouldn't have been out of place and seen to be pandering if he'd actually been in a church.
LOL!!!!
I love a good laugh to start off a Monday Morning.
I guess my rathers would be Cruz. Just see the guy as more conservative. With that said, either would be a heck of allot better than Obozo, Hitlary or the Socialist.
Good luck today....it will be, what it will be.
