I agree, that’s the way it should be handled.

I was responding only to the idea that a cashless society is a problem for, or a potential danger to, those of us who choose to go cashless.

A mandatory cashless society does limit freedom.

But it also makes life much more complicated, and much more dangerous, for criminals, too, which is not a bad thing.
