Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is defending a campaign mailer that Iowa's secretary of state says misrepresents election law.
The mailer bills itself as a "voting violation" notice and tells the recipient it's been sent due to "low expected voter turnout in your area." It then grades the recipient's voting history and that of several neighbors, citing public records.
Cruz told reporters in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday that the mailing is "routine."
He says he won't apologize

That crap shouldn’t be allowed anywhere.
Selective enforcement on Cruz isn’t right, but it should be prohibited everywhere. Sure looks like the mail version of impersonating a cop, if you will.
I hope datricker understands the honor bestowed upon him. Having grown up in the shadow of the great curmudgeon, I know of no higher journalistic award.
Why couldn’t Cruz be PR of Canada? (I really don’t know.)
It wasn’t very long ago Trumps voting record was pasted all over FR s proof of his long time member of the GOP. (Incorrect conclusion). No one objected to Trump’s record being made Public
Now tell me....where did that information come from? Not Trump but from voter records in NY State.
I know the WAPO did not get the information from Trump. They got it from Prime New York, a political consulting firm
These firms are not unique to NY. They collect information used by all candidates. Candidates pay firms to collect this information, which included the voting habits of people in a particular area. To find moral outrage in this instance shows how easily voters can be manipulated
Did the gunsgod whatever, poster follow suit? Haven't seen posts by them in the last 24 hours.
He renounced his Canadian citizenship.
Lots of typos in my first paragraph. Sorry
‘Just a series of unfortunate misuderstandings’
If Cruz doesn’t take this bull by the horns and straighten his campaign out ASAP, ‘a series of unfortunate misunderstandings’ could be the epitaph of his 2016 run.
Well yeah, just recently, but that wasn’t Trump’s point.
Awesome!
He has been banned. Hopefully it’s not temporary.
Old ladies are not stupid. The people thinking they are? Different story.
I understand that. And in the scheme of things, the "technical mistake" is harmless. The point being that Cruz isn't eligible to be president, and people ought to wake up to that fact.
Seems to be a whole lot of citizenship renunciation in that family...could I please see your passport? Go fish
I noticed the number of stamps seemed excessive, but Cruz already admitted sending them and refused to apologize.
Facebook and Google have details about all of us if we use them. Anything we say-they keep records of as they are selling INFO to your Auto and Homeowners Insurance company. It is not just Equifax these days.
They almost look like the post offices ‘Freedom Liberty Equality Justice’ stamps the post office sold in 2012 for 45 cents each.
But those have ‘forever’ under the flag. These have a phrase.
Each stamp cost what, 45 cents. You got 8 of them. That’s almost $2 per mailer.
Yeah where’s that Chauncey Uppercrust fellow too? Haven’t seen a screed from him in some time either.
I thought it was rather quiet around here..... :)
