>> Reagan was in his late-20s, early 30s when he held liberal views <<

Not only that, because from his mid-40’s forward, Reagan spent decades writing essays and giving speeches extolling and explaining the values that genuine conservatives hold dear — not to mention his holding office for eight years as a successful Governor of California.

In particular, Reagan’s free-market and anti-statist philosophy was logically coherent, consistent over many years, and beautifully articulated. Any attempt to equate Reagan’s long history of conservative politics with Trump’s quick and questionable “conversion” would be risible if it weren’t so disgusting.

On Trump's part, I don't think it's so much a conversion for him as us recognizing that he leads on the same issues that are important many of us right now.

If it wasn't for Trump, illegal immigration would remain a minor talking point during the election, and only among a small group, easily cast aside after the election is over.

He's not the one I'd support if gay marriage was the main issue. But it's not the main issue. This country is in survival mode right now.
