Ronald Reagan was once a liberal activist who supported the New Deal during the 1940’s. Did you apply the same logic to him in the 1970’s?
Reagan was in his late-20s, early 30s when he held liberal views. Trump was in his mid-50s when he supported both gays in the military and all forms of abortion, including partial birth. And 67 when he gave his gushing support for communist Bill De Blasio prior to the New York City mayoral election.
Reagan proved himself twice in elected office as governor of our nation’s largest state twice. Reagan wrote and spoke very well and passionately about conservatism long before he ran for president. It’s very wrong to compare the dignified Reagan, a man who wouldn’t take off his suit coat in the Oval Office, to Trump, a man who brags about adultery.
Reagan had 30 years to get over his liberalism, and the governorship of California to prove he was over it.
I will be happy to give Trump credit for his conversion after he has spent a single decade proving it.
No, of course not.
Reagan had a well thought-out political philosophy.
Trump and his followers have feelings.
