I just binge-read eight books by Donald Trump. Here’s what I learned.

From memoirs to financial advice to politics, inside the collected writings of Donald J. Trump.

Sitting down with the collected works of Donald J. Trump is unlike any literary experience I’ve ever had or could ever imagine. I spent this past week reading eight of his books — three memoirs, three business-advice titles and his two political books, all published between 1987 and 2011 — hoping to develop a unified theory of the man, or at least find a method in the Trumpness.

What I want from Trump:

1. Build the wall
2. Bring back jobs - through tax policies, etc.
3. Go through the budget and do whatever he has to do, cajole, yell, scream, to get out spending where it should be - cut out whole depts that shouldn’t even exist. This includes no more planned parenthood funding.
4. Diminish the influence of lobbyists - which is part of #3
5. Stop the incoming hoards of welfare recipients and terrorists from 3rd world countries - and this is connected to all of the above.
6. Our military needs to be rebuilt - we’re going to need it I’m afraid.
7. Make it ok to be a proud American again - and everyone taking pride in who they are including white people.
8. Appoint constitutionalists to justice positions - including SCOTUS.

This is a partial list. It would almost seem weird to not hate our government anymore and have some faith that they were working for the good of the country and not their own wallets.>>>>
add defeating common core it is for our future

Trump said he would make deals with the Democrats, so there goes most of your list.

Of course he will make deals, they just won't be advantageous to the Dems, China, or Iraq.Refreshing, no?

That doesn't make him a statist. He works with the State to create wealth for himself, the employees he hires, the contractors, and union folks who build his buildings. He's a capitalist. You want a statist? Go vote for Clinton or Sanders. You want the economy to grow, Vote Trump.

Yes, for sure he’ll get rid of common core thank God!

And hopefully the Dept of Education - this needs to be local.

Outstanding analysis of Donald Trump — how he thinks (especially about himself), what drives him to behave as he does, etc.

Yes, you’ve got it.

I understand the chaotic thinking process of an entrepreneur, it doesn’t scare me like it scares more normal people.

It’s a nuclear reaction going on in the brain. Right up to decision time when street sense, common sense, gathered advice and defeat of fear come together into a snap decision.

The plodding ideologues never make a decision, everything’s has already been decided for them. Apply the template and move on.

But like war, no plan survives first contact with the enemy. You’ve got to assimilate conflicting information in real time and make quick decisions.

Trump and Cruz are the strongest capitalists in the race. They are also every bad thing people say they are.

They are also superior to the rest of the field in their own different ways.

True! Let insurance companies compete in various states and ...gasp....TORT reform ....that puts the fear of God into all the LAWYERS and lobbyists in D.C.

I’m so sick of lawyers thinking that since they’re trained talkers and arguers that they’re qualified to tell us how to live..I’d take Joe the Plumber before another dang lawyer.

Reuters has great filters that you can play with to see how the candidates compare.

Some other pollsters have the same.

At Reuters, the categories for R primaries are:

Leans liberal
Leans conservative
Somewhat conservative
Very conservative

If you filter for leans liberal you don’t get numbers, it says the sample size is too small. If you combine the two “leans” Trump leads.

Trump leads in the Somewhat and Very categories too. By a lot. Those are large enough that you can filter for them individually. The difference is tiny though.

The most striking thing is the consistency across all the categories.

I guess different polls can say different things-- but here is one sample----

"Trump's lead is clearly significant, however, and the poll finds him well ahead of the field among a range of GOP subgroups. He leads among both men and women, younger and older voters, white evangelicals, conservatives and both self-identified Republicans and independents who lean toward the party."

Link not working but I certainly agree, polls differ and they should.

The lede makes it sound like there are some similarities also.

I read Trump’s first book and this guy totally misrepresents what Trump wrote.

I came away from the book impressed by Trump’s work ethic, knowledge of city politics and building codes, his ability to juggle numerous projects, his pride in doing a great job, his ability to work with so many types of people and accomplish what HE wants, and especially his thriftiness and frugality.

Exactly what we need.
