Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"
It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.
He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.
Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.
More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."
In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

Trump nailed it when he said Megyn’s question at the first debate wasn’t a question - it was a statement. Cory said that the moderators spent more time talking at one of the debated than any of the candidates. The moderators should be transparent - not showboats focused on themselves.
I’m very happy Trump stuck it to Fox.
We know from the hard lessons of history, that sometimes, events happen, right before our eyes, that are so unimaginable that we have no way to assess their impact. That is what is happening right now. England is all giddy over Chamberlain and Churchill is a “grumpy old has been”. We would do well to consider his words: “You had the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war.” Trump is no more capable than Chamberlain to save America. His ruthless bloviating will not bring the country together, and, l’m afraid, we will all pay the price when he finds out that administering the federal enterprise is a bit more difficult than trying to save a failing Atlantic Casino by putting an all nude Strip Club in it.
What I find amazing is these self anointed ‘guardians’ of conservatism are anything but.....
Their elitism is revealed when they attempt to brow beat us peasants into conformity like we're some dumbfark demoncrats.
The jig is up. Their careers are OVER.
From your mouth to God’s ears
Yes, it’s perfect. Just like so many were willing to project their hopes onto the blank screen that was Obama, because Trump is satisfyingly non-PC and throws out a lot of promises, people are willing to follow him to the ends of the earth and trash anyone who isn’t. Suddenly you’re an elitist if you actually want to talk about ideas. Who knows - he may end up being the greatest things since sliced bread - but you don’t just airily dismiss the hard questions with “You’ll see,” or I’ll get the best people.” I can see his appeal - he appeals to the pissedoffedness of everyone, but so did Hitler. No, don’t get your panties in a bunch, you Trumpbots - I’m not saying Trump is Hitler. Just that ideas are important - what does he really stand for? It bothers me greatly that he gave money to the Clintons and other dems, and that he said he can work with those scumbags Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. I don’t want him to work with them, I want him to DEFEAT them and everything they stand for.
Who is acting like the spoiled brat and needs to grow up is the republican party and their good ole boy club which includes Sowell. Trump has taken the control from them and they are throwing temper tantrums and having meltdowns all over the place. They never planned on this and their true colors are coming out everywhere including their main mouthpiece, Fox News. I’ve been watching this political process long enough to know that they would crush Ted Cruz like a worrisome little gnat if they weren’t having to spend all their efforts on Trump. When a politician gets elected, they don’t do a d@mn thing for the first four years because they are always looking at that next election. I’m willing to let Trump put his money where his mouth is and give the republican party a big ole reality check in the process. If Trump does nothing more than keep his promise on the invasion that’s going on, that will be a great start to putting this country back on track. All this BS that ‘you can’t drag 11 million people’ (I’m sure it’s MUCH, MUCH, MORE than that) out and deport them is ridiculous. If a fraction of the laws regarding illegals were enforced and they would stop rewarding them for breaking the law with social services, they will deport themselves. It’s disparaging to see in my own community how much these people are taking advantage of our country and our generosity. Most are not here to be part of our country, they send money home, build up a lifestyle for themselves and then they go back. I’m sick of it.
Perhaps it is time for Roger Ailes and Fox News Channel to grow up! The debates are NOT about "gotcha" questions and the moderators trying to show off how smart they are.
Apparently it is too much work to actually find out what the voters would like to hear to help them to choose a candidate. It is too easy to select a quote out of context and make them squirm.
Better for me to get the results of the "debates" from the internet the next day, and not waste my time watching nonsense by moderators who refuse to grow up.
Right. This transcends who-is-who. The actual conflict was healthy for debate policy. Breaking the cycle.
Really? Comparing Trump to Jim Jones is reasoned writing?
Messianic demagogue?
It is with great sadness I am watching Sowell descend into this.
“A commander in chief that belittles U.S. prisoners of war?”
I don’t believe I ever heard Trump belittle U. S. prisoners (plural) of war. I only heard him belittle John McCain. I don’t believe being a prisoner of war is a ‘free ticket’ for the rest of your life for every sleazy thing you do as a politician. That’s like the Megyn Kelly ‘you disparage women’ when he was talking about Rosie O’Donnell.
You sound like someone who wants to modernize Christianity. You know, because the times have changed.
So if the classic narcissist is a patriot and wants the best for his country, then I’ll pull the lever for the classic narcissist.
A thousand times better than the man-boy narcissist in office now.
Not disagreeing that he is one. From what I’ve been reading, ex-wife #2 says the same thing.
I like and recommend your post to everyone here.
Very well thought out and I agree with it and wish I could write so well.
A narcissist only does for himself, what is best for him - there is no one else.
“1000 times better than Obama.”
In your dreams.
Similar to my Cadre First Sergeant in Jump School. He (Awarded multiple Silver Stars during the South East Asia war games) called “Purple Hearts” “Slow Man’s Badges” and urged us to avoid getting any, if at all possible.
Long see no time, mate!
*waves*
Sure. We could put chips in our foreheads. Why do you think I support Trump?

Trump said: "He (McCain) was a war hero because he was captured," and "I like people who weren't captured,"
How is that not an insult to every American POW?
Oh that's right. Trump spent some years in an elite military style prep school on his daddy's dime after The Don got kicked out of his prior prep school for punching his music teacher in the mouth just because Donald The Punk didn't think the teacher knew enough about music. Donald marched around for a few years in a military style uniform and actually had the audacity to compare that with actual military service.
And no. Donald's insulting comments toward women were not confined to just Rosie O'Donnell.
TRUMP:
“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured.”
“I like people who weren’t captured.”
