Christians Cringe at Donald Trump’s Sexy Past
Daily Beast ^ | 1/26/2016 | Betsy Woodruff

Evangelical Christians, at the moment, are totally enamored with a candidate who has profited off strip clubs, cheated on his wife, and appeared on the cover of the nation's pre-eminent porn magazine.

And to top it off, Jerry Falwell Jr.-the heir of the Moral Majority mantle-just endorsed him.

(snip)

So far, Trump's top foes have largely steered clear of attacking him based on his sexcapades and scandals. Even while he and Rubio lob birther-esque attacks at Ted Cruz for being born in Canada, Trump has evaded any hard-hitting criticism for his multiple marriages, casino ownership, and appearance on the cover of Playboy magazine.

A series of tweets from Sen. Ben Sasse, a freshman Republican from Nebraska, may suggest that the days of giving Trump a pass over his New York-values personal life are over.

"You brag abt many affairs w/ married women," the senator tweeted on Jan. 24, addressing Trump. "Have you repented? To harmed children & spouses? Do you think it matters?"

In The Art of the Deal, Trump boasted about bedding other men's wives.

"If I told the real stories of my experiences with women, often seemingly very happily married and important women, this book would be a guaranteed best-seller," he wrote.

You certainly can’t accept the situation can you.

No, I cannot accept the attempt to smear someone based on faulty and flimsy premises.

You are totally freaking clueless.

Now Ted was just a secretary.

He took dictation and typed it up for Bush.

Even you must find this explanation absurd on the face of it.

You are in total denial.

His title was Policy Adviser to Presidential Candidate George W. Bush, on immigration matters.

You certainly can’t accept the situation can you.

It’s your take that Ted with his top level Constitutional Law degree, was simply Bush’s secretary.

Are you really that ignorant about how policy papers get written when you are an advisor?

Do you really think that GWB did not give Ted the basic policy points he wanted fleshed out first?

Do you really think that this document was the first draft without review by GWB and not the final version after review and revision by GWB?

“...Idolatry in any form is an ugly thing.”

Yes, it is - and you who believe Ted Cruz is the second Coming of Christ should repent.

The problem for you is that, while we who support Trump know of his defects, you who worship Lord Cruz think him a saint - but then why not, since he thinks himself an “anointed King?”

As I said, you want to believe Ted was his secretary.

Well, run with that. LOL

Ha ha ha ha...

Nice try.

You are in total denial.

NO, however, you, having an agenda to support TRUMP (PRAISE BE TO HIS NAME!) automatically jump to the most negative spin on little facts and come to conclusions that are built on flimsy and faulty premises lacking the necessary facts to support those conclusions.

I'll take that as you can't logically rebut what I just posted.

I’m getting a kick out of you squirming claiming Ted was nothing but a secretary for Bush.

Mr. Big Shot Constitutional lawyer talking dictation and typing it out for Bush.

LOL

In case you are not aware your words say far more about you than your attempt to trash people who support Trump.

You can take it any way you like.

Any reasonable person can tell that is not the working of a secretary.

It’s Bush’s policy adviser. Ted was advising in his capacity under that mandate.

You just can’t accept that your boy was a card carrying RINO clear back into the 90s.

Sorry about your case.

The attempt to twist everything, including the Bible so you can support someone you know is wrong is simply mind-boggling and shameful.

1. What does that verse mean to you?

2. Where did I mention Trump? I was pointing out a problem with Evangelicals, not praising DT.

Trump supporters have a healthy dose of experience with reality. We don’t expect kindergarten children to know how to judge leaders. You have so much to learn. You love to mock people instead of discuss differences. Mockery is the great giveaway of uneducated children.

Oh, and don’t forget - like Cruz - Sasse rode around Nebraska in a BIG BUS - with his name in YUUUUGE red letters, stenciled along the sides ...

I went to several of his speeches; and, even while I gave him my vote, I considered him an arrogant condescending ass - cut much in the same mold as Senator Cruz.

Sasse is an ambitious opportunist, with his sights set on the presidency - and not because he wants to “Make America Great Again,” but rather so to make Ben Sasse great in his own eyes. Whatever you may say about Donald Trump’s bombastic nature, the same may be said about Ben Sasse ...

The difference is that Sasse fancies himself a saint without blemish, and Trump holds no such delusions.

Like Cruz, Sasse wears religion on his sleeve - and he is not afraid to make sure all around him know what a fantastically devout “Christian” he is.

I’ve always felt like I needed to take a shower after listening to him.

I don’t want to seem ungrateful for your comments Molly, but SoConPubbie has a right to see it different.

I don’t object to him seeing it different, but it does get under my collar a bit. I can’t agree. It seems pretty clear to me, but then that’s me.

You are full of baloney. Anyone who works at the reception desk of a hotel knows who the “regulars” are and who they are “seeing.” Anyone who works in a smart restaurant knows who comes and goes and how “friendly” they are with their escort. Etc. Etc. Etc. there are numerous professions that allow people to regard others in what may or may not be compromising circumstances. One doesn’t have to work in a bordello.
