On January 18, Jerry Falwell, Jr. welcomed Donald Trump to Liberty University to speak in the school's chapel. As the college president who wrote the "this is not a daycare" article that received so much national attention recently, I have been asked by the media if I would be next: Will I be inviting Mr. Trump to Oklahoma Wesleyan University to speak in our chapel service? My answer has been simple and brief. No, I will not.
In selecting speakers for Oklahoma Wesleyan, party affiliation and political positions do not matter. Personal conduct, public statements, theological integrity and moral consistency do ...
Anyone who is pro-abortion is not on my side. Anyone who calls women "pigs," "ugly," "fat" and "pieces of a-" is not on my side. Anyone who mocks the handicapped is not on my side. Anyone who has argued the merits of a government takeover of banks, student loans, the auto industry and healthcare is not on my side ...

God bless Dr. Piper.
I think this ought to be published in EVERY NEWSPAPER in Iowa, repeated from pulpits ( Jeremiah Wright did!) and over the airwaves before the Caucus on Monday!!
AMEN Eternal Vigilance!!!!!!!
I’m going to call and write the University.
And learn to “right” something legible....lol!
God bless...
I actually see no reason for Trump to go around speaking at colleges; Christian or otherwise. But my statement still stands, and is in response to what I sense as the holier than thou attitude of this professor, or whatever he is.
Dr. Soundingbrass, or whoever he is, obviously considers himself more holy and worthy than Dr. Jeffress from Dallas, TX First Baptist, or Jerry Falwell, Jr., both of whom have befriended Trump. I’m hopeful that those two, and others, rubbing shoulders with Trump, will be a good influence on him.
Pres. Lincoln, when he was elected, was a crude, earthy, off-color, kneeslapping joke teller. But while in the Office, influenced by a minister, he became a Believer. Ike Eisenhower was not a Christian, either, when he was first elected. His relationship with Billy Graham resulted in his conversion to Christ.
This holy pharisee who made the statement we’re discussing, IMHO, should have chosen another vocation. He clearly has no interest in getting his robes soiled associating with an unsanctified Donald Trump, or lousey sinners of any stripe.
I agree. Dr. Piper stated very eloquently all the reasons that I and many other social conservatives could never support Donald Trump.
I personally know what you mean about offensive people mocking the handicapped. Why, if I had a leg to stand on, I’d stand up and drop kick a whole lotta these offensive yahoos back to their pathetic hidey hole sites. Thank God my dear old sainted mother taught me to be kind to the mentally challenged.
I wish you much happiness and prosperity.
Life is good and may yours always be blessed.
Any man who starts off with a lie is not on my side.
What seems to characterize the haters here on FR, people who slime either Trump or Cruz or any of the other Republican candidates, is their black-and-white, to-the-wall, outer-limits language:
All or nothing.
Perfect or evil.
Best or worst.
Wonderful or terrible.
Always or never.
There is no middle ground to the way they speak.
It turns others off who might listen to reason about a candidate, if they spoke in the language of reason. But they speak in a self-righteous language of moral condemnation, condemning not just the object of their absolutist opinion, but also those people who dare to hold a different point of view.
You can spot them by seeing those outer-limits words in their posts.
Possibly they have personal reasons for their rage. There can rarely be a candidate who pleases a vast majority, especially in a country that has been not only stirred into competing racial and economic groups, but that is also being invaded by force for political purposes. And no candidate should even try to please everyone.
But to give oneself over to loathing is a sign, to my mind, of a lack of belief that God, the only Absolute, is in charge, has conquered this world, and importantly, has their life in His hands. It’s the assurance of Salvation that calms the soul and removes fear and loathing.
I will let my posts speak for themselves. I will repeat that anyone who watches the video of Trump and isn’t already a groupie will see that he is mocking the disabled reporter.
Great catch!
I have been so hurt by watching people treat my daughter as second class. She has a palsyed leg and walks with a limp and is mentally challenged. She has been mocked much the same.
That is exactly why I gasped when I saw the video. Watch it again...
It is painful and I wept.
NOW for sure the reporter was no doubt a agitative liberal. That is not even the issue. But to demean ANYONE with a handicapped, even the vilest person, is not right and says a lot.
I know you understand Jim.. I’m sure you do.
I’m more in line with J. Falwell, Jr. His interview with Erin Burnett last night was very good. He (not Liberty) is endorsing Trump because he is the best choice for saving the U.S.
Not verbatim, but what he said was that if your child is dying you’re not looking for the best Sunday School teacher. You want the best doctor.
America is dying. The best Sunday School teacher will be of little or no use. We need the best “doctor” to save our country.
He said his father was criticized for supporting Reagan who was divorced and remarried, and from Hollywood. And he was criticized for not supporting Jimmy Carter when he ran because Carter was a Southern Baptist ... Sunday School teacher.

So this Dr. Everett Piper is a liar? A “Christian”? Oh, good. Trump did not mock the handicapped man — but it was convenient spin at the time. (Apparently it still is.)
My wife and I know that we are loved by God. That gives us strength.
Since Trump said he would be making deals with Pelosi and schumer I doubt that Trump would be saving the US by doing that.
We’ve had enough dealmaking. If having no deals means gridlock then so be it.
