300 scientists send letter to Congress accusing NOAA of cooking the books on climate change

One of the least reliable sources for data on climate change is the US federal government. Now, a group of 300 scientists and academics want Congress to investigate the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for cooking the books on climate data in order to erase the pause in the rise in temperature cited by, among other sources, the IPCC.

Incredibly, the NOAA accumulated data by measuring the water temperature from the engine intake valves of ocean going cargo ships. The scientists want Congress to investigate whether the agency violated the Data Quality Act, which seeks to insure the accurate dissemination of scientific information to the public.

Daily Caller:

“We, the undersigned, scientists, engineers, economists and others, who have looked carefully into the effects of carbon dioxide released by human activities, wish to record our support for the efforts of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology to ensure that federal agencies complied with federal guidelines that implemented the Data Quality Act,” some 300 scientists, engineers and other experts wrote to Chairman of the House Science Committee, Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith.

“In our opinion… NOAA has failed to observe the OMB [Office of Management and Budget] (and its own) guidelines, established in relation to the Data Quality Act.”

The Data Quality Act requires federal agencies like NOAA to “ensure and maximize the quality, objectivity, utility, and integrity of information, including statistical information.”

Smith launched an investigation into NOAA’s study last summer over concerns it was pushed out to bolster President Barack Obama’s political agenda. Democrats and the media have largely opposed the probe into NOAA scientists and political appointees, but Smith is determined to continue investigating. NOAA officials surrendered emails to congressional investigators in December.

Over the last week people have been dieing in Asia due to a regional cold front. A few places have experienced their first snow in recorded history. If our progressive government has its way, many more will die. These are criminal acts done by a corrupt government.

Of the 300 letter signers, 150 had doctorates in a related field. Signers also included: 25 climate or atmospheric scientists, 23 geologists, 18 meteorologists, 51 engineers, 74 physicists, 20 chemists and 12 economists. Additionally, one signer was a Nobel Prize winning physicist and two were astronauts.

so,does this affect the 97% number ?

...didn’t these guys get the message that this is settled science?

And if it's "settled science" why should we be appropriating money for research?

De-fund the neo-Aristotelians.

I have been screaming about this for years.

The long-existing Federal Rules of Evidence, updated regularly FORBIDS government and agencies from arbitrarily setting the rules on Scientific matters without the legal process of confirming the reasons (fraudulently) presented, which ordinary people, including Congress, the Courts, and the general public lack the education, experience and knowledge to grasp..
Courts. Hearings. Independent Authorities in arcane and complex Science Outside of government..

To my knowledge, none such process for "Global Warming," or "Climate Change" or other similar fraud has ever taken place.

Federal Rules of Evidence
Article IV is specially relevant.

Why have ALL our criminal members of Congress avoided this like the plague?

As citizens, we do not have standing to demand that the rules apply.

You must not be familiar as to where that 97% came from. An egregious case of the "Climate Change" Fraud...

They are talking about 97% of around 87 papers out of 12,000!
Cherry picked?
Ya think??!!??

Totally "cooked" Fake Number

"Once the President begins lying, ignoring, and committing criminal acts as a lynchpin of his policy"

The lynchpin or cornerstone of Obama's CO2 policy/regs is the 2007 SCOTUS decision(Massachusetts v EPA) in which SCOTUS ruled that CO2 is a pollutant, told EPA to determine the risk, and regulate CO2 with the Clean Air Act. EPA needed nothing from Congress.

Back then, everyone thought that it would be better if Congress legislated CO2 regs, but Congress failed at that in 2009 and 2010. Obama/EPA would issue their first CO2 regs in 2010 that applied to only new permits.

That set off a flurry of lawsuits that had to go all the way back to SCOTUS, who ruled for Obama/EPA in June 2014.

About that same time, Obama/EPA would issue their second set of regs that applies to existing permits. The final rule was issued well into 2015, which set off a flurry off lawsuits. This second set of regs is called the Clean Power Plan.

The plaintiffs ask the DC court of appeals for an injunction to stop Obama from implementing until after the case(s) are heard by the courts, but were turned down, after which(within the last few days) they appealed that to SCOTUS.

"Have a look at the data..."

When you cherry pick the data, you automatically lose.

You left out the data on Pacific hurricanes and cyclones in the southern hemisphere.

These scientists must not know the meaning of settled science. Haven’t they heard the noises about making climate change denial a criminal offense?

Post was tongue in cheek. I should have used the sarcasm tag.
Of course, Obama jacked that percent to 99.5%

The same 97% number is incredibly calculated on 3 different studies.

One of the studies: Doran’s study - small size: 74 out of 77 respondents said they agreed that climate change is man-made. = 97% (actually 96.1)

too funny.

Sure, go ahead and check the rest of the data.   Yes, I picked the worst year I could find.   But the track is not so good in other years either.

My point is that even with elaborate computers and software, the scientists can't achieve good accuracy.

But I could be proved wrong...
