Can you explain this poison pill thing to me. I am confused.

He sounded like he was totally for it. How is that really against it?

Rubio, Schumer and the gang of 8 wanted a path to citizenship to "bring people out of the shadows." Using their own term, Cruz offered an amendment removing the path to citizenship and said even without the path to citizenship the bill would still allow them to "come out of the shadows."

Cruz knew of course that what they really wanted was to make the illegals citizens so they could become voters, and they would never support the bill that included his amendment. It exposed their motives and the tactic worked - the bill was killed.

That's just it. When you lie and to prove it you admit you lied, no one knows when you're not lying.

I don't care if Sessions was part of the lie or not. Sessions doesn't add validity to a lie by also lying.

They both admit to making a proposal under false pretenses. Even Cruz knows that's not a simple white lie...It's fraud.

He knew that the bill would die if it contained his amendment ... And it did.

He also knew that he had to get the amendment put into the bill.

The amendment would not have been accepted if it had been sold as a poison pill. He had to flip a number of senators’ votes. Selling the amendment as he did allowed a few (enough) to vote for the amendment. That’s how Rubios gang of eight amnesty bill was defeated.
