The Texas senator insists he's never favored a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants, but many of his old colleagues say that's not true.
For Latino Republicans who have known Ted Cruz over the last 15 years, the candidate stumping across the country on an anti-immigration platform is not the rising talent they once worked with on the George W. Bush campaign, in the Bush administration, and then as Texas Solicitor General.
The Ted Cruz of those years was a whip-smart and audaciously ambitious lawyer who lent his considerable intellectual heft to the policies many Latino Republicans cared most about, including immigration reform. But during a CNN debate in December, as Cruz and Sen. Marco Rubio clashed over Cruz's past positions on offering legal status to undocumented immigrants, Cruz said definitively, "I've never supported legalization, I do not intend to support it."
Weeks later, Cruz doubled down, explaining to Fox News' Bret Baier that he tried to amend to the Senate's "Gang of Eight" comprehensive immigration reform bill not to pass it, but to doom it to defeat. "Bret, you've been around Washington long enough, you know how to defeat bad legislation."
And with that, Cruz's bridge back to his former colleagues in Latino Republican circles began to burn. "It's just a flat out lie. Period," said Robert De Posada. "There's just no truth behind it."

yawn!
Hearsay, Your Honor.
Cruz is a phony .. he rode Trump’s coattails and even adopted some of Trump’s positions . Now he is attacking Trump at the behest of his open-borders establishment masters ...way to go Cruz , Beck and Levin are proud of you
No matter how many times the strategy of poison pill amendments to the Gang of 8 Bill are explained, by Cruz, by Steve King, by Jeff Sessions, the lies continue.
Meanwhile the same folks support Trump’s Touch Back Amnesty that will give the Democrats Millions of new voters.
Cruz is just another lawyer turned politician ... he has followed BO’s path .. never built, created, or managed a thing ...riding others’ coat-tails
[ “It’s just a flat out lie. Period,” said Robert De Posada. “There’s just no truth behind it.” ]
Did the daily beast even Ask Jeff Sessions and Mike Lee about it?
Let’s all fight for the guy who gave $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation instead! YEEEEESSSSS!
let me count the lies. If this were true here is the score.
Cruz = 1.
Trump = hundreds or more since he announced. Would take 1000 people 10 years to count his life time lies.
Why aren’t you over on Pied Piper Trumps thread supporting the troops. Maybe it’s because you’re as big a fraud as he is.
Liars! Liars! They’re all liars!!!!

That comment is as clueless as it gets.
One would think a habitual bomb throwerâs arm would eventually give out.
One thing I am 100% sure of, establishment Republicans and Democrats hate Cruz. I will give ALL benefit of the doubt to Senator Cruz, and hold them to exact standards. It is job #1 to make sure Cruz is “cut off at the knees”. Trump will be next, after Cruz is neutered, then the establishment will have its usual political whores do what they do. Screw America over, while pretending to be different.
Go Cruz go.
Go back and listen to Cruz’s March 23rd campaign speech when he announced for President. Trump echoed every position that Cruz took 3 months later, but Trump left out Religious Liberty and abolishing the IRS.
I have it on good authority from our Trump supporters here that changing positions and lying are all genius strategic moves. So even if this is true, it would only serve to enhance Cruz’s position against Trump. Right?
Same goes for Chris McDaniel, who supports Cruz.
The OP has previously posted admiration for Bill Clinton. The more of her vitriolic posts I see, the more I think she could be a troll.
...and I support Trump. But recognize that Ted Cruz is good man, would gladly vote for him, and these posts stink to high heaven.
So, according to Mr. pro-amnesty De Posada, Cruz is secretly pro-amnesty just like he is, but he doesn't want us to vote for Cruz? Riiiiight! Sure!
