Iâm not really sure what will happen tonight. I truly hope that Donald Trump will keep his word and follow through on his decision to not attend the debate and hold a separate forum in Des Moines, but who knows. For now, C-Span says they will cover it.
Sometimes itâs best to walk away from a bad deal and not look back. Itâs another opportunity for Trump to âteach us.â I guess weâll see. Hopefully we wonât get whipsawed all day long and that the Des Moines rally is on and FR people here will participate.
It seems pretty clear to me that Trump was tipped off about an unformatted ambush with other activist questioners, (who may not even be Americans), with their own agendas. Did they intend to pull a Jorge Ramos on him to disruptâmaybe to get him to walk off the stage or say something regrettable?
Whose idea was it in the first place to have these people ask questions? This is the kind of maneuver weâd expect from a more left wing station, not Fox, but weâve sure learned something this past year, havenât we about this network, and the people weâve allowed in our homes day in and day out?
And who wrote that chicken bleep press release that mocked Trump with references to our enemies? Was it Ailes himself? I sense the good people like Jeanine Pirro and Brett Bair are pretty embarrassed this morning. They should all be.
The Fox network intent, as I see it, is more ominous and thinly cloaked and perhaps about other things. Megyn Kellyâs objective was to make her the center of attention over the candidates and her colleagues, but already Rupert Murdoch voices his desire to have Michael Bloomberg enter the race, and weâre hearing of some backdoor dealings of his, and Fox, that favors illegal immigration. I guess we will see what is fact and what is fiction eventually.
Make no mistake, immigration, legal and illegal over the past 25 years, has altered the cultural and political trajectory of our country. Who can say if this is good or bad? It really depends on who you are. I worry that ultimately it will affect our freedoms.
Ted Kennedy and other passive politicians from both sides, and presidents have got the politics wrong about immigration. It used to be that immigrants coming here from wherever, and their offspring proudly said they were âAmericansâ first. Now, Iâm not so sure.
Was that the political intent? To ultimately change the complexion of our nation and endanger our freedoms by pitting us against one another, and to have people coming here not to assimilate with us, but to defy us?
This will all pass, just like it did in 1980 when Ronald Reagan chose not to debate George Bush before the Iowa caucus, and maybe, before it does, it will turn the Iowa caucus on its ear with a surprise winner. I think all of us have seen through the rallies that Iowans are a special brand of people.
Those Iowans, that âusually get out and voteâ, are a microcosm of the people we used to be, before John Kennedy was killed. They usually vote in the end for âthe person who appears to have the best heart.â I think itâs Trump, they might think itâs Carson. I only hope that they do not take his refusal to debate as a personal affront to them.
All of our candidates are true patriots. Any one of them could lead our country better than the people who have led us these past eight, maybe 24 years. Whomever wins the nomination should have our support.
I pray that God gives each of these people the wisdom to do what is best for the people of our country. Can Fox say that the organization and spirit of their debate had that same intent? I truly doubt it.
I'll take your word for it. I haven't watched it in ages and ages.
It is my one and only political claim to fame: I had Lightweight Journalist Megyn Kelly figured out before Trump did.
Brit Hume who rumors had has an affair with MK ! Notice how she always mentions what he’s wearing when he’s on her show. Is it some code or?
Unlike rumors we know Trump has had affairs and even bragged about them in one of his books.
I don’t put much stock in rumors but when someone brags about them, it’s kind of hard to ignore.
So did Ivana They went to society functions. He left after making appearance. She stayed and partied.
She’s not running for president. Wouldn’t vote for her either.
Thanks, PJ.
Thanks, nikos.
:-)
I hope folks will watch on CNN as more money will be raised for the Veterans through advertising.
I don’t know if it’s true either, but I did hear Wells Fargo and another one (didn’t catch the name). Read on another thread that the ad $s for each of the commercials for the debate have dropped way down.
Oh I can’t wait for this event. However, I heard it was on CNN and now you are saying CSPAN. That is one thing we need to straighten out so that we don’t go to the wrong channel. This event tonight is going to be historic. Could be the last speech before nomination and I want to hear it. The reason I say this is because if Trump wins Iowa, the primary is over and he will win. Iowa was the hardest state for Trump in the country and if he gets this state he is good.
Trump tweeted that two unnamed GOP candidates contacted his campaign about joining his event tonight! LOL
Wow. If I had to guess, I would say Carson and Rubio.
What I hope is that when Trump becomes President that he kicks Fox News out of the Press Room and that he will not accept the Fox News White House Correspondent. Let them figure it out with access.
I don’t think BOR knew or knows about the planned trap.
He has been friends with Trump for years so FOX probably kept him out of the loop.

I am fairly certain that it won’t be Rubio - I suspect he wants to take on Cruz and Jeb. I’m thinking Carson wants to be at the debate, too.
Someone on another thread mentioned Huckabee and Santorum or Huckabee and Fiorina. I was just thinking about it. Any of the Kiddies Table debaters could still do their debate, do the room after with the pundits, and then go to Trump’s event. IIRC the 1st debate starts at 6 or 7 EST and Trummp’s event isn’t until 9, which is the same time the main debate starts. I believe that the debate and Trump’s event are both in Des Moines (don’t know the proximity of the venues, but it wouldn’t be like driving from Manhattan to Queens or NJ).
It’s not so much that these other candidates would want to show support for Trump, but more that they stand for Vets, too and get a little extra publicity (and perhaps auditioning for a VP or cabinet spot in a Trump admin). Just a thought.
Foster Freese who is Santorum financier was just on CNN. He said Ricks message was the same as Trump just quieter. That RS had authored the original Iran Sanctions. Etc. FF was very complimentary to DT. If he’s in early debate he will have time to join DT in his event. So would Huck. They ARE in same town. Expect these are the two.
Both would be assets to Trump.
I would hope that Trump would only allow one or the other, not both. If you do the debate, you don’t come here.
I love the idea of Santorum going. Huckster I am not a fan but I don’t mind him going. This is just better news for Trump.
Trump/Santorum perhaps??
Sis and I discussed that way back last fall.
He has good experience in congress balancing budget writing IRAN sanctions. Etc. He is truly a good conservative.
His blue collar touch would bring even more of the common people to the R side
That is wonderful. I wanted him as our candidate in 2012, but voters picked an idiot instead and people here bashed Santorum the whole time just because he found Toomey to be a fraud......he was right. Oh well, VP would be awesome. Trump for 8 years and Santorum for 8 years....we may be able to save America after all.
