WASHINGTON (CNN) - At least one veteran's group doesn't want any donations from Donald Trump's fundraiser for veterans. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News' debate this week.

You comical twists are also sad.
It’s too bad you folks are so eaten up with dislike for Trump.
This is a good thing and instead of being able to appreciate it, you’re grinding inside.
Take a chill pill.
Hope not. Wounded Warriors typical rates a “D” on how it spend its money to help veterans.
neither does patronization of others for personal gain
Cruz is not my “beloved”. My beloved actually laced up combat boots unlike Trump and Cruz both. I would prefer to vote for a guy like Duncan Hunter as I have when McCain ran but he is no longer a choice.
I applaud all who give their time and money to veterans and Its not my place to tell them how much to give.
Cruz has warts no doubt but I have confidence in the direction he would take the country. I have no such confidence in Trump. So there you have it. I’m my own man, always have been, always will be. For better or worse and in your case I am sure it is the latter. That’s baseball.
That is what they take a deduction for on their taxes - there is no way to know if that is all they give. Many people do not deduct tithes or gifts to the church off their taxes.
My impression of Cruz and the Mrs. is that they count every penny.
How dare they decline a bribe from the wannabe emperor!
Duncan Hunter! Yes, better to go down with a virtuous loser than succeed with a savvy winner. Well, I’m tired of voting for Ashley Wilkes and am now voting for Rhett Butler. I hope his kind flourish like green bay trees.
I don’t know you so I’ll give a pass on whether I think you are better or worse.
Tax filings of the Donald J. Trump foundation show Trump has made no charitable contributions to his own namesake nonprofit since 2008. Without an endowment, the fund has continued to give grants only as a result of contributions from others.
....Pressed by the AP on the details of his contributions, Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks provided a partial list of donations that appeared to correspond with the foundation's gifts â indicating that Trump may be counting other people's charitable giving as his own.
"I give to hundreds of charities and people in need of help," Trump said in an emailed response to questions from the AP about how he tallied his own philanthropy. "It is one of the things I most like doing and one of the great reasons to have made a lot of money." The Trump campaign did not respond to a request that it identify donations that Trump himself gave.
As you say, that is YOUR impression - and I am sure you are not biased at all! :-)
I missed your reply #55. Sorry about that.
That being said, did you actually read the .Pdf that is included in the article? Those scores are based on laws and/or bills the organization tried to pass to help veterans. Obviously, if they passed, whoever helped it pass got “A’s”. Whoever squashed them got “F’s”. Others were given a grade based on where they stood. It was non-biased. As a matter of fact, each bill or law that they tried to pass in 2010 is listed and each government player is attached by state as to where they stood in helping or hindering it’s passage.
It is very detailed (and dated) but interesting nonetheless. I certainly wouldn’t call it a left wing organization based on a Report Card. If anything, it sounds like a lot of the GOP’ers did not want to help many vets in 2010.
Reading is knowledge.
You voted for McCain and you criticize my vote for a conservative? Lol.
BTW, I recall you not being so kind to Trump here at FR in the beginning of this cycle. Am I correct on that?
Yes, I have been won over by Trump’s amazing ability to connect with ordinary people, his overwhelming sense of humor which rivals Jackie Mason, my growing knowledge of his love and support of vets, his position on muslim immigration and my brother’s comment that he loved The Apprentice because it showed that Trump had a real heart. It’s been a most exciting journey! Trump gets bad press by the NYC tabloids. Even Cindy Adams has come around. And she’s the one who made me question him in the first place! Go, Trump, go.
As freepers must know, a convert to a cause is the most committed of all.
If you think THAT is bad, you should read about Trump's giving (or lack thereof). It looks like when asked about giving to charity, he was claiming what other people gave to his foundation as money HE gave to charity. (See post 149).
Why? Integrity.
There are other Vets who need the money. Just because you accept a donation does not mean you support the one who donates. Trump is not asking for any endorsements. This was a inappropriate political action on the part of the ones who run that organization. They are probably for Bernie.
Is that a bad thing?
I’m a former Cruz supporter. After learning more about him, I realized that he is not the person I thought he was.
Yes. Penny-pinching is indicative of a lack of generosity.
One of the Top 2014 donations that jumped out at me......
($10,000 â $24,999)
Barbra Streisand Foundation
..They dont need my money.
