Donald Trump: "Even though I beat him in the first six debates, especially the last one, Ted Cruz wants to debate me again. Can we do it in Canada?"
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
To prove that he can take it and give it back even better than his attacker? To show he is the better man with the superior grasp of the issues and eloquent enough to overcome any opponent? Trump is supposed to be all those things, isn't he?
I must say I’m astonished at the Trump worship on this site.
It doesn’t seem to have much basis in any of Trump’s actual programs or beliefs.
For example, I thought all of us here were against abortion and Planned Parenthood. I know I am.
But Donald is not.
He sees no problem with national health care. He may think he could run it better than Obama.
He sees no problem with big government. Ted Cruz has a list if agencies that have been making our lives miserable for years that he would eliminate.
Where’s Donald’s list?
I just don’t see the attraction in his person or policies to explain the mindless worship.
Maybe people just were immediately attracted to him and can’t admit they were wrong.
Anyway, it’s a big shock to me. I didn’t go to that Other Site but after being insulted daily by Trump people one does want to get away from them.
It's an idiom meaning "at a time".
Trump bragged about winning all the debates but that was on Drudge. Not crazy about Frank Luntz but at least his focus groups actually watched the debates and they always had Cruz the winner.
And really, if Trump is so afraid of being on a stage questioned by a Muslim convert, who is a MUSLIM ACTIVIST, and who might call him a RACIST or worse then how will he ever face down the ISIS leaders or Hassan Rouhani?
Ignoring ideology in who you elect is like trying to sail across the Atlantic without a compass. It’s ideology that tells the leader in what direction to lead. The right ideology is an absolute requirement.
Patton was a great leader. If his ideology was Naziism, where would we be today?
If Trump leads the country to nationalized health care, expanded NSA powers, Supreme Court justices that favor abortion, etc. how is that a good thing?
I would rather someone who had the wrong ideology was a TERRIBLE leader so he would never get his goals met.
Once again, tell me which parts of the ideology you are willing to sacrifice and exactly what goals/achievements you’re getting met in return for that with Trump.
There are THREE moderators for the debate and also THREE ONCE SECRET BLOGGERS to be used to hit Trump between the eyes. And then there was the pathetic, stupid TWEETS from the higher ups at FNC. Not another candidate got that kind of treatment. "FAIR & BALANCED"...hell no!
And then through into the mix, that BLOODY KELLY has been saying for at least a week, that she is gunning for him; NOBODY ELSE...JUST TRUMP.
If he showed up, he would just look STUPID and Trump isn't stupid. Perhaps YOU are, though.
You don't "debate" terrorist enemies.
I don’t think Trump has leadership qualities.
He started out being noticed because of his wealth and celebrity. He had some kind of reality show that I never watched.
What that celebrity did was get him publicity. He was able to get press on everything he said because he was The Don.
How is that gonna work when he is in actual government? Is he gonna say I’m not gonna give my state of the union address if Fox let’s Megyn Kelly cover it.
He’s only courageous when he’s totally insulated. Maybe he can work that for a long time.
That’s a nice bit of philosophizing but it isn’t in touch with the reality today.
People want a) a wall, b) defeat of ISIS/Muslim BroHood/Iran/Jihad/whatever you want to call it c) a growing economy.
If Trump does all this and follows the Constitution, he will be remembered as a GREAT PRESIDENT. And that assumes he will do ONLY those things.
Trump will not bomb them. He is a coward.
Ted Cruz has a plan for bombing them and knows all about the logistics of doing so.
Trump will still want to please the liberal celebrities who buy Ivanka’s trinkets.
Kinda like ‘take a crack at it’
Boy, you Cruzers are a nasty, bitter bunch, aren’t you?
“For example, I thought all of us here were against abortion and Planned Parenthood. I know I am.
But Donald is not.”
Sigh. I guess his repeated statements that he’s pro-life and hates abortion simply aren’t enough to convince you. Whatever.
1) I honestly have always viewed the duel citizen thing as irrelevant so I have never studied that issue.
2) On the loans, I think it was an honest mistake by his campaign - if he was wanting to hide the loans he wouldn’t have reported them on his Senate Report Form which was submitted during the election.
3) My study of the Constitution leads me to believe that Cruz is a natural born citizen since his mother was a U.S. citizen. Most legal scholars would agree with Cruz. It is possible that a court somewhere could rule the other way but the preponderance of the law and precedent is on Cruz’s side.
4) Virtually every campaign begs for money. I have had Rand Paul’s campaign, Ben Carson’s campaign, and I think even Jeb’s campaign all send me unsolicited fundraising letters. I see no moral issue here.
Honestly, their are only two small problems I have with Cruz.
1) Was his initial support for the TPA. I understand his thinking that this was uncontroversial and would be a big help once he was president. However, given that Obama was still President for one year and is going to try and force the TPP through Cruz probably would have been wiser to oppose TPA until Obama left office.
2) Was Cruz’s decision to ultimately join the rest of the Senate Republicans (with the sole exception of Tom Cotton) and vote in favor of the Corker Bill. Cruz’s strategy was to try and do everything he could to delay Obama’s release of the 100 plus billion dollars in frozen assets to the Iranians. Obama was saying that he would completely ignore Congress and do it on his own which would have made it go through faster. So, Cruz tried to amend the Corker bill to make it have more teeth and when that failed he decided to support it because it would at least require Obama to submit the plan to Congress and do nothing while it was being debated. However, I think that it still was a mistake since it was a strategy that could not ultimately stop Obama. That said there really was no good strategy that Cruz could follow unless the entire Republican Senate Caucus was willing to join him in playing hardball with the Obama administration by withholding funds and bringing a lawsuit.
AS the great Dandy Don Meredith used to say, “If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas.”
I don’t believe the Donald will actually build a wall and what’s the point if he does? He’s already said the Good ones can come back in. It will be a revolving door not a wall.
I’d don’t believe he’ll take meaningful action against ISIS when it comes down to it.
You can’t grow the economy. You can lower business taxes (as Ted Cruz plans), you can make a more friendly climate for business but you can’t grow the economy.
As Dennis Miller said, “I remember when they made cars in Flint and you couldn’t drink the water in Mexico.”
Will Trump do something about leveling the playing field about foreign imports?
It’s touching to see such faith.
I’d be more convinced if he hadn’t said the exact opposite 3/4 years ago.
You might be correct. But since we have no legal definition of NATURAL BORN CITIZEN we really don't know. We went through all of this with Obama and lost.
The most strict version of NBC requires two parents born in the USA. Trump doesn't meet that standard. Cruz doesn't either. Trump is closer I will admit but since there is no court ruling on NBC or a definition in the Constitution or by Congressional action the issue is moot. The courts will not take it up.
