In Defense of Flat Earthers
The Atlantic ^ | 1/27/2016 | LIZZIE WADE

Posted on 01/27/2016 10:36:24 AM PST by Borges

When I first heard that rapper B.o.B apparently believes the Earth is flat, I sighed the weary sigh of a science writer facing down an anti-science culture. Evolution, climate change, vaccines, and now #FlatEarth? “Are you kidding me?” I thought. Will Americans insist on rejecting everything that 100 percent of scientists agree on? Aside from B.o.B’s delightful diss track aimed at Neil deGrasse Tyson (and Tyson’s equally delightful response), this latest dustup just felt like more of the same. But then I clicked through and read B.o.B’s original arguments, and they stirred my very soul.

100% agree on? Unless you disagree then you’re not a real ‘science person’.

Lizzie “Lysenko” Wade believes that science is whatever the government says it is with no regard for truth, reality, or actual Science.

She’s kind of like Bill Nye.

Ah, the old “flat earth” claim that climate skeptics “deny science” ....

See, the ONLY flat earth models I have found after 18 years of reading several thousands of catastrophic anthro-pathetic global warming papers by self-selected CAGW so-called “scientists” are the “average solar radiation onto an everage plate earth plate always facing towards the sun while revolving around an average sun at an average 1.000 planetary radius.

The real earth is a near-spheroid rotating on its axis about the sun at known near-elliptical that causes daily solar radiation changes at top-of-atmosphere: highest on Jan 5 at 1410 watts/m^2, lowest in early July at about 1315 watt/m^2.

But the CAGW astrologists don’t use those values either. They, like Lewandowsky and Oerestes, prefer their easy prejudiced illusions of flat-earth “Christian fundamentalists” residing in their early 20th century Zion IL houses.

Did you read this article? It’s not about climate change at all nor does it makes that comparison.

I read this and it was enough!
climate change,... Are you kidding me? I thought. Will Americans insist on rejecting everything that “”””100”””” percent of scientists agree on?

From the end of the article:

“So let a million theories flourish, including #FlatEarth. When they come from a place of such genuine curiosity and creativity, who cares if they’re wrong?”

A typical lib’s view of life. Even losers get a trophy. It’s the intent, not the result, that’s important. Celebrate diversity, even if it’s killing our people and degrading our culture.

This is a man who has looked at the world around him and decided that mainstream science isn’t doing a good job at explaining what he sees. So he's collecting evidence, seeking out literature by well-versed "experts," and working out a better theory on his own.

No, this is willful and obstinate ignorance in an alliance with intellectual laziness and closed mindedness. We have no obligation to take him seriously. There are any number of excellent on-line and dead tree explanations of the evidence. Google 'evidence that the earth is round'. BoB needs to STFU and listen for a few minutes.

This is the subjective, post-modern belief that you can create your own reality and whatever you randomly dream up with your feelings and wishful thinking is just as valid as science and systematic observation.

Even the Bible written thousands of years ago, says otherwise.

Isaiah 40:22: He who sits above the circle of the earth.
Job 26:7: He hangeth the earth upon nothing.

Read the article despite the initial lie, namely "Evolution, climate change, vaccines, and now #FlatEarth? 'Are you kidding me?' I thought. Will Americans insist on rejecting everything that 100 percent of scientists agree on?"

100% of scientists do NOT agree about "climate change."

/Not going to touch the evolution part...
