Interesting enough, I am literally right down the road from "FiFi", the B-29 sister of "Enola Gay".
The B-29 FiFi is the LAST "Flying Fortress B-29" in the world. We're kinda proud of her here in Midland.

In 1972 or 73 there was an airshow in Galveston. One of my Class-3 customers in those days was a Colonel in the Confederate Air Force and he got me a ride in their B-17
Texas Raiders appearing at the show.
It was a thrill but when the pilot made a two-wheel landing to save wear & tear on the tail wheel, I did not know this and nearly crapped my pants!
Still a lovely memory...
