The famously outspoken former Major League Baseball pitcher John Rocker is "absolutely" endorsing Donald Trump for president.
"I think he has really woken America up, "Rocker told The Daily Caller in an exclusive interview.
The former Atlanta Braves closer, who's still remembered for making politically incorrect remarks about immigration and New York City in a widely-publicized 1999 interview with Sports Illustrated, believes Trump's lack of concern for political correctness is inspiring.
"I'm probably as disheartened as everyone else is, as Trump supporters seem to be, with the status quo and the glad-handing politicians and the soundbite politicians always looking for the right comment to make and walking that fine line trying to make every single faction out there, who could be a possible voter, don't make anybody mad and wear kid gloves," he said.
"I wish someone, excuse the frankness here, would have the sack, would have the backbone to make unpopular comments, and when folks come out - mainly media, special interest groups, factions, things like that - and just start hammering them and demanding apologies... I've always wanted to see the person that's like, 'Yeah, I've made these comments, these are my beliefs, and you know what, if you don't like it stick it. I'm not apologizing, I'm not changing," Rocker told The DC...

Love him or hate him, he’s consistent.
Rocker is a normal person, and SICK people hate normal people.

The media is trying to drag out a procession of “bad guys” endorsing Trump to hurt his image; expect this to go on until Election Day...
Aren't we tired of walking on eggshells all the time out of fear we might offend somebody?
I thought his comments were hysterical (and accurate), but trust me, this is being reported to stop particularly blacks and Hispanics from supporting Trump. Both groups seem to like him more than other Republican candidates in the past, and that is very disturbing to Dems.
Watch the procession of freaks they’ll trot out as Trump supporters, and you’ll see what I mean.
I agree. John Rocker said nothing wrong. Yet he was unfairly and relentlessly attacked by the media. One of the things I like about Trump is that he is hitting back to the media and not taking their bullying.
I'm thinking this is what the country needs. Trump seems to have that going for him, the ability to connect with people and penetrate that politically correct shield we all construct around ourselves.
Great story. BTW, someone put down salt in my driveway today, but not my neighbors. Maybe they like the Trump bumper sticker on my car.
It may or may not hurt Trump, but the news story is certainly designed to. Those “frank discussions” with blacks go out the window when one loses out on a promotion or gets fired/laid off; they’ll lash out with threats of legal action, and some of those light-hearted comments from the barbecue may re-surface.
I’ve seen it more than once; be careful. As I get older I grow more introverted, and I certainly don’t crap where I eat (mix work with my personal life).

Now your experience just reminded me of what happened to me over the weekend. I didn't think anything of it until now. But I had my car worked on Saturday, just regular maintenance, and I was in the waiting room with my laptop - watching a Trump rally on YouTube - when the service manager came up behind me to tell me my car was ready. The guy saw I was watching Trump but didn't say anything pro or con.
When I went to pay for my car, I saw that I had $30 taken off the bill for "coupon". Now I never presented a coupon but I didn't argue about it either. But now I wonder, did the service manager give me a discount because he saw I was watching a Trump rally on my computer? Now you got me thinking.
He may have thought you did have a coupon and is a supporter of Mrs. Bill to boot, but I guess we’ll never know.
He’s no David Duke. Rocker’s main gripes relate to people not speaking English and homosexuals:
For a story published in the December 27, 1999 issue of Sports Illustrated, Rocker made a number of allegations stemming from his experiences in New York City and answering a question about whether he would ever play for the New York Yankees or the New York Mets.
I’d retire first. It’s the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing... The biggest thing I don’t like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?[10]
During the interview, he also spoke of his opinion of the New York Mets and their fans:
Nowhere else in the country do people spit at you, throw bottles at you, throw quarters at you, throw batteries at you and say, ‘Hey, I did your mother last night — she’s a whore.’ I talked about what degenerates they were and they proved me right.
The interview was conducted while driving to a speaking engagement in Atlanta. The reporter, Jeff Pearlman, wrote that during the interview session, Rocker spat on a Georgia State Route 400 toll machine and mocked Asian women. Also, Rocker referred to Curaçaoan teammate Randall Simon as a “fat monkey”.[10]
Although Rocker later apologized after speaking with Braves legend and Hall of Famer Hank Aaron and former Atlanta mayor and congressman Andrew Young, he continued to make controversial remarks.[11] For his comments, he was suspended without pay for the remainder of spring training and the first 28 games of the 2000 season, which on appeal was reduced to 14 games (without a spring-training suspension).
In 2002, while with the Rangers, Rocker again made national headlines for his views after directing slurs towards patrons of a Dallas restaurant at which he was dining, located in the heavily LGBT-populated neighborhood of Oak Lawn.[12][13]
In June 2006, Rocker defended former teammate Ozzie Guillen, at the time the manager of the Chicago White Sox, for referring to Chicago Sun-Times sports columnist Jay Mariotti as a “fag”. Guillen, a native of Venezuela, claimed it was not a derogatory term and that, in Venezuela, the term only questions another man’s courage rather than his sexual orientation.
“This is a free country. If he wants to use a lewd term, he should be able to use a lewd term”, Rocker told the Chicago Tribune. “Can’t you use a lewd term in America if you want”? Referring to sensitivity training, he was quoted as saying: “It was a farce, a way for the scared little man, Bud Selig, to get people off his ass”. Rocker stated that when he attended mandatory sensitivity training he would seldom remain longer than 15 minutes. He also claimed he never paid the $500 fine that was levied against him.[14]
I agree 100%. Your after work story was great too. What has disheartened me is Trump's decision to attack and smear Ted Cruz like Ted is some kind of horrible snake in the grass. None of this was called for. Ted is a "nasty" guy. Don, no he is not!

I compare this to Peyton and Eli Manning. Both of them quarterback their teams. When they play each other, each of them badly want to win the game and are fierce competitors. I'm sure they even get nasty with each other. But when the game is over, they go back to being brothers.
It will end the same with with Trump and Cruz. In the end, they will get along just fine.
