(David) Limbaugh: Cruz Has Been Right All Along
Townhall ^ | January 25, 2016 | David Limbaugh

I believe Donald Trump's meteoric and sustained rise is a direct result of Obama's largely successful campaign to fundamentally transform America and the establishment Republicans' unwillingness to fight back.

Grassroots conservatives have wanted someone to stand up to Obama and stand up for our nation -- and they are sick and tired of Beltway politicians and pundits alike patronizingly assuring them that nothing extraordinary is occurring and to calm down. "We'll take care of it after we're re-elected." Sure.

Yes, some of these establishment, moderate or, if you prefer, unexcitable types have finally come around, belatedly acknowledging Obama's intentions but failing to admit they were slow on the uptake, much less that they're sorry for branding the rest of us who caught on years before they did as mean-spirited, extremist or kooky.

It's important to review this history, not for "I told you so" purposes, but because it's relevant to our current hotly contested GOP campaign and how we choose to go forward. It's crucial in assessing and judging Ted Cruz's actions in valiantly trying to stand up for the people against Obama's tyranny....

David is to Rush what Pippen was to Jordan.

I don't understand the animosity between Trump and Cruz supporters. I prefer Cruz, but I don't see any point in trashing Trump or his supporters.

I would certainly rather have Trump than any Democrat.

Same thing the other way. Would not any Trump supporter prefer Cruz to a Democrat?

Why fight? I am ready to accept either one of them as our candidate.

A quick look at the title of the article disabused you of that misapprehension, did it not?

Not sure what you planet comment means, though.

He doesn't have 20 million weekly listeners, he didn't single handedly save the AM dial, he hasn't been the single most listened to radio talk show host for over 25 years running. But Rush has.

So what? His talents are in different areas. I'll bet he's sold a lot more books than Rush has.

It is akin to saying you're off in right field, only a lot further out....

:-)

Note the lack of venom, contrary to most Cruz-Trump pie fights.

I see, you're kidding.

Yes, we could all do with less venom.

The Cruz folks started it. Trump supporters have no problem with Cruz.

Never mind that the only time we've resoundingly won these elections -- presidential and congressional -- is when we've run decidedly conservative candidates or pushed strongly conservative themes. With our moderates we have mostly lost.

Standing O!

Something I've noted of recent is that people here are now knocking Limbaugh, Stein, Levin and other radio and hosts who before Trump stepped on the stage were generally favored....now they're suddenly the enemy. It's like anyone and every thing that isn't for Trump is out to get them! But then Trump thinks that as well...

It's astounding that there are so many Kool Aid drinkers here on FR.

Good grief. Same thing was done to Palin after she endorsed Trump. Loved before, slammed on FR after.

“Cruz was right, and grassroots conservatives were right. We should have stood up to Obama then and didn’t, so Trump was born and is flourishing. With Ted Cruz we know what we’re getting and we know it’s the reverse of Obama’s infernal effort to fundamentally transform America. Say what you want about Ted Cruz, but about this there is little doubt.”

If that’s true, then it would be Cruz who took this election by storm. Instead, he held back, refused to talk about illegal immigration. Worse than that, he said condescendingly that ‘the American people don’t want to have that conversation.’ He could have dove in just like Trump instead of being either afraid to speak out or being stopped by donors.

No, with all the wishy-washiness, I have no clue what Cruz would do. I think he will push for legal status.

Like Glen Beck I believe Palin has brought some discredit upon herself.

But Bozell, Vigerie, Limbaugh, Levin, etc. those guys are solid. Yet they're trashed here now.

Nobody has bashed Rush. But this article has nothing to do with Rush, while the intention was that it did. Not very honest.

The bottom line is, Sarah or not, Cruz is like a 9 on the 10-point scale where Reagan was a 10 and Trump is maybe a solid 6 dressed up as a 7.5 — so if the resistance to socialism wants that, it’s still way better than a 1 or the other alternative, -666. But in a perfect world you would go for the 9 over the 6, I would think. Why not?

It's astounding that there are so many Kool Aid drinkers here on FR.

What's *astounding* is that nobody remembers the origins of the phrase "drinking the Kool Aid".

It *was* Rush.

During the 1992 Democrat National Convention (back in the days when Bush 41's approval rating was 91-95%, no *serious* Dem wanted anything to do with the nomination.

Rush had somebody from his show standing on the corner outside the convention, passing out Grape Kool-Aid...which I think was an oblique reference to Jonestown and its suicide by Kool-Aid.

It's odd, that Slick Willie saw his chance (oh, yeah, Hillary did too), just when all the other leading Dems were taking a pass.

Someone ought to remind Rush of that, and see if he'll do an encore, when the *next* Clinton is seeking the nomination...
