Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the intellectual leader of the modern conservative movement and the catalyst behind much of the rise of nationalist populism in this election cycle, told Breitbart News exclusively that he thinks there's much about 2016 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump for voters to like when it comes to the issue of trade negotiations...
Sessions, who is standing up for American workers on this issue, told Breitbart News that the reason nobody on Capitol Hill or in the political class - save for Trump - really seems to be fighting this is "complicated," because the polling data so clearly shows Americans are widely opposed to these types of trade deals...

We trust Sssions opinion a more than yours biff.
You must be yankee? Down here in the south all kinds of places from work and homes are referred to as joint.
Lets clear out of this joint - time to leave work.
I am headed to the joint - In the right context, I am headed home.
Get a grip and settle down.
That is not what the questions were about.
I have a grip...this is exactly what Cruz was condemning Trump about his ‘New York Values’ some of us are still upset over that...
And I’ll get a grip and settle down when I feel like it, I don’t need you to tell me what to do...
Yes, I said it again. GO TRUMP GO!
The@nks for the ping
The idea that Trump’s going to throw a 45% tariff on China is unlikely but it’s a bargaining position. Trump believes we have the winning hand if we would only use it. A 45% tariff may cause some immediate pain for Americans but it would most likely hurt China even more. That’s the point. The threat is called leverage. Trump and the people who will be advising him know a heck of a lot more about this than you or I.
I think Sessions is going to be on our ticket!!
Economy and jobs supersedes other issues in most elections.
Illegals are a sub-part of economic problems, because illegals are parasites on the American safety net. And the 1.5 million legal immigrants, plus the H1-B visa foreign workers are another shaft to the middle class.
Senator Sessions is a wise old bird. He knows how the foreign trade deficits are hurting American middle class jobs and wage levels. Yet, no career politician has done a damn thing about trade deficits or immigration.
Actually it is just the opposite...all career politicians without exception have been pushing for the cheap labor express of immigrants.
Good idea. In fact, an excellent idea!
Open borders crowd hates Trump.
..................................
Good enough reason right there to vote for Trump. Our economy is being destroyed. Just Look at Detroit. What happened to all our cotton mills? We grow the cotton, ship it to Asia and buy it back as shirts. Where did our fashion industry go? And on and on and on.....................
Then quit griping about me calling this place ‘joint’.
Pick something to gripe about that is worth it.
I could live with that one!!!
Go Trump! Make America Great Again! It is almost too late, but only Donald Trump has the know-how, courage, name recognition, and freedom from rich donors to accomplish that gargantuan task.
Sessions is a great senator, but do we want two 70 year old’s on the same ticket?
So what you are saying is Trump is lying about a 45% tarrif?
To be honest with you, you are right. It is about leverage and China has a boat load of leverage against the U.S. Trump is blustering, he knows damn well what the Chinese would do if he pulled that crap.
Trump wants to raise Tariffs.
Crummy Federal Reserve, Stock Market volatile and down, with global economic slowdown, including a slowdown in trade, then you add protectionism.
Did protectionism make the great depression? No. But it helped sustain the great depression, by adding an additional brake on trade. Tariffs become a tit for tat game which everybody eventually loses from.
Trump and Sessions are wrong or maybe Sessions is just conveniently ignoring that Trump wants to raise tariffs.
It will work like the last time Republicans favored raising tariffs, in the 1930s; which is it didnât work.
.............................................................
You can’t compare the 1930’s to now. In the 1930’s we had manufacturing here in the united States with its attendant labor force and now we have lost most of that to Asia. We are being suckered all over the place and our sovereignty is in shreds. Trump will use tariffs as negotiating leverage, as a threat, and use it successfully to STOP devaluation of currency and all the other violations of the so called trade deals that nobody on OUR SIDE has ever tried to STOP. Trump advocates leveling the playing field, by renegotiating the trade deals and dealing ONE on ONE instead of in these monstrous multi-nation pacts in which America is merely one of MANY! How anybody with half a brain can’t see that DEMANDING and RECEIVING FAIRNESS in TRADE is the way to go is beyond me. Are you happy with our TRADE DEFICIT? Do you want to continue losing billions EVERY YEAR? Better put your big boy pants on and face facts. our economy is on the rocks and we need somebody who knows the “Art of the Deal” to get us back in safe harbor.
Good idea. the threat is a fine negotiating tool. Nothing else has worked. All the puny mouthings over the years have amounted to nothing but more Trade Losses for us. I’m tired of China eating steak while we eat hamburger!
Yes, Trump will use leverage which tariffs provide to bring the Chinese to the table.
And yes, I know a thing or two about international trade.
No I’m not accusing him of lying because he never said that he would definitely impose a 45% tariff. He said he would consider it. That’s called keeping the other guy guessing. It’s called negotiation.
"We have got to decide: Are we going to have manufacturing in this country or not? If these economies can manipulate currency, and otherwise block our exports in non-tariff ways to their country then we are on a path to unilateral disarmament.
... If you don't stand up to China, they'll run over you. They say if you stand up to China it'll cause a trade war. But we're in a trade war, we're just not fighting."
~Senator Sessions
