Gary Bauer, one of America's leading pro-life and pro-family activists, endorsed Ted Cruz on Friday. In doing so, Bauer became one of many evangelical Christian leaders who have thrown their support behind the senator from Texas. Bauer explained:
"Ted Cruz is a courageous conservative who has built a consistent record on the issues that matter most. He has fought for religious liberty at home and abroad. He believes all of our children should be welcomed into the world and protected by the law. Ted knows that government is too big and that taxes and regulations are too high. He will rebuild our military strength and pursue a foreign policy that repairs our frayed alliances. Ted Cruz understands that Israel is our friend and that Iran is our enemy. He understands that border security is national security. Last, but certainly not least, Ted Cruz is committed to restoring the rule of law and repealing President Obama's outrageous executive orders."
There's a reason why Bauer, James Dobson, Bob Vander Plaats, and a host of other largely Protestant conservative leaders have endorsed Cruz: he's the Biblical choice for president. Cruz's father, Rafael Cruz, explained two years ago what that phrase -- the Biblical choice -- means:
The Bible, Cruz went on to explain, tells you exactly how to vet a politician. He turned to Exodus 18:21 and made his case. Moses is in the wilderness trying to govern the Israelites, where his father-in-law gives him leadership advice: âMoreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, ruler of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.â

Michael van der Galien Pontificating!
There aren't enough evangelicals to make Ted the nominee, let alone president and nolt ALL of them are going to vote for Cruz! Your supposition is therefore utterly wrong on many different levels.
I am an ordained retired Evangelical-Spirit filled pastor with over 42 years ministry experience and I am voting for Trump because I believe he is God’s man for this four year term. I am sorry Gary Baur is more important than me but my vote counts same as his does. so DEAL WITH IT!

Sometimes this race seems like people do not give one whit about winning the general election. Only about having their own choice as the nominee.
I could swear we are electing a President, not a Pastor? Silly me.
Oh, and earlier today I was reading somebody supporting Cruz saying he was the Ezra of our times. Great I am thinking Ezra was a priest but he did what he did because contemporary Nehemiah built the WALL! DEAL WITH IT

Ted Cruz, Glenn Beck, and Cult-Like Religion
It's cute watching these people-- who are more than likely no different than atheists in their daily lives-- pontificating about who the Bible says to vote for, meanwhile Teddy is involved with Dominionist heresy and stands around with a Mormon heretic in a Christian Church talking religion.
I wonder if these idiots even understand what the Apostles or Jesus Christ would have called Glenn Beck?
The don’t.
Example #1&2: BHO
I will vote for Ted Cruz, Evangelicals who vote for Trump, are like the Evangelicals who voted for Carter. Fooled. NOT because Ted is Evangelical, HE HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY on tract, and hasn’t changed parties, given money to the Democrats, saying Obama was a good President, and Hillary would make a good President. He doesn’t insult heavy set women and tweet that they are fat. Ted Cruz has class. Trump is a flash pan fire with NO SUBSTANCE. Iowa voters will decide. Chuck Colson used to advise Evangelicals to ALWAYS LOOK AT THE RECORD, not the words of the moment. Trumps record is NOT consistent with his popularity speeches. He is NOT going to give us nominees for the Supreme Court who are pro life.
What a disgusting title. Utterly foul.
Are we electing a pope or a president?
This is not an argument that should be used. Everyone must respect each person’s right to follow his own conscience on voting. Make points. But don’t try to say Christians must vote one way or another. Christians must love their neighbor; love and obey the law of God; increase in the knowledge of God and His Word, pray, etc. I do believe they have a duty to vote. But who they vote for is not prescribed in Scripture and while we each may have our opinions, it is wrong to try and guilt trip a voter. Make your case, step back and respect the individuals right of conscience. We already have too many would be kingmakers.
I do think character matters. I do think Scripture provides help in choosing the candidate. I do think Christians can endorse candidates as individuals and make a case based on Scriptural principles. I do not think that a general “Christians who are good Christians must vote for candidate so and so” is the right case to make. Point out issues and how they line up to Scriptures. Step back and let the individual conscience do its work. Or not. Embracing the idea of republicanism and the freedom of each voter to choose is also a noble value we must not let disappear.
I’m not sure who the heck you think you are dictating who I should vote for based on your knowledge of anyone’s faith other than your own.
But then again, your entire group lives in some bubble of holier than thou piousness that somehow makes you feel entitled to judge others.
Anytime someone tells me what s good Christian they are, I cringe. If you have to tell me you are, I know better.
You’ve made a good argument for backing Cruz, which I expect to do, but I don’t see any path to the nomination for him.
What a horrible title. Makes one want to skip the article.
So I did skip the article.
And I like Cruz just fine.
See tagline...
If Cruz makes it it will be the most destructive thing that could happen to America. He will lose to Hillary.
I’m a Christian. Not the most pius or sin free. But I would be happy with a constitution following president of any true religion. (Muslim is not a true religion)
Why post this if you’re just going to go hide now?
I’m for Cruz but, I’m not going to defend the presumptuous turd you just laid here. You don’t help the cause at all in this way.
