Rick Perry endorses Ted Cruz
Politico ^ | January 25, 2016 | Katie Glueck

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.

Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.

"Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd," Perry said. "And that appears to be down to two people."

Perry, who is famously skilled at retail politics, will campaign with Cruz Tuesday across Iowa, and will join Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King to stump for Cruz again Wednesday. Perry and King will both join Cruz at a Des Moines rally Wednesday night.

The endorsement gives Cruz the blessing of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, just as the senator faces intensifying heat from other veteran politicians, including from his colleagues in Washington, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.

“It was a from a fake tweeter account. Probably someone in the Cruz camp.”

*********

http://dailycaller.com/2016/01/24/pressure-mounts-over-trump-spoxs-bigoted-tweets/

“.....Some Trump supporters have attempted to claim - without any evidence whatsoever - that the tweets were somehow faked, even though they came from Pierson’s account and can still be viewed online.....”

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/266845-trump-spokeswoman-defends-pure-breeds-tweet

“....Pierson chalked the tweet up to “silliness.”

“Look, these tweets - I’m an activist, and I am a half-breed. I’m always getting called a half-breed, and on Twitter, when you’re fighting with Twitter and even establishment, you go back at them in the same silliness they’re giving you.”

“You’re telling me that was just silliness?” Shelter asked.

“Absolutely,” Pierson responded.”

I think it is a good endorsement from a governor that served the state of Texas for 15 years.
Perry has valuable genuine experience dealing with our Mexico border problems, without much assistance by the federal government.
There are things I don't agree with Perry on, but I think he has recently been doing what he can as a Governor of a State that borders Mexico. Could he have done more, possibly. Should he have done it sooner no doubt. But him going against Obama with this is more than I can say about some of our other governors.

Some info on Rick Perry:

A bad endorsment would be one like the endorsement by Bob Dole

The New York Values heartless GOP blocked the Rick Perry style Dream Act Plus.

http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/story/news/local/new-york/2015/02/26/assembly-passes-dream-act-senate-gop-opposes/24086063/

he state Assembly passed a bill Thursday that would grant college financial aid to immigrants living in the country illegally, but the measure remains tied up in the state’s budget negotiations.

It was the third consecutive year the Assembly passed the DREAM Act, which would make undocumented immigrants eligible for the state’s tuition breaks and its college savings plan. But the measure faces steep opposition from Republicans in the Senate, many of whom campaigned against it during the 2014 election cycle in which they regained a majority.

Hey, I’ve been bashing governor Gardisil for years. This is probably the most conservative thing the corrupt bastard has done in all that time. And I wouldn’t recommend Cruz for dog catcher at this point.

"I'd rather see folks come together, work together to find solutions, but from time to time, you've got to lay the marker down," Perry said, when asked whether Cruz could work with Washington. "There's that old adage, 'You gotta hit the mule upside the head to get its attention from time to time.' I'd suggest that's exactly what the senator was doing."

The NY GOP are stronger on immigration than Perry.

>> But I think we have turned from God (abortions,10 Commandments,Obama, etc.) and unless we elect a Godly leader we are headed for more trouble. The arrogance of Trump troubles me. God will not be mocked.

A Godly leader does not lead people to God. God calls people to himself. God has chosen to not call all Americans to him. Those that he did call are strengthened by the allure of our secular, consumerist culture. Those that he did not call but are cultural Christians are easily led astray by the culture. God does not need us to elect a Godly leader. If he wanted one, he would have provided one and the means for that one to be elected.

Christianity is thriving in west Africa, China, Korea, Vietnam—places where people really risk life and freedom by professing faith in Jesus Christ. There are not Godly leaders in those nations.

Trust God to call you and to give you the strength to have faith in a hostile world. Don’t fall into the trap of asking God to provide a “safe space” for you weak faith. Don’t ask for Godly leaders. BE ONE!

I have never been a Bible thumping Revelations person or an End Times person or a God-is-punishing us person. But I think we have turned from God (abortions,10 Commandments,Obama, etc.) and unless we elect a Godly leader we are headed for more trouble. The arrogance of Trump troubles me. God will not be mocked.

I have been hearing this same message from my own group of conservatives I hang with. They mentioned some time ago if Bobby Jindal wasn't elected [or someone just like him], that the End Times would kick in with more fervor. And I agree with you and them.

I think it's crazy to think a pro-abort like Trump [if one is "exceptions pro-life" as he is, one is pro-abortion] would fare well with Jesus, and as you say, "God will not be mocked."

There are those of us out here that still like Perry because we saw him as a good governor of our state. Not perfect but very good. I am glad to see him endorse Cruz, they are both good men.

Do you think Glen Beck will give Rick Perry time to get a word in edgewise?

“I think Conservatives will have to unite and NOT vote for Trump. The gamble will be that in 2020 we can get a real candidate.”

The National Review might as well hire you as a writer. That comment sounds like something a person at the NRO says.

My two cents: I think this is HUGE!
Perry was the “darling” of conservatives not too long ago and, if I recall correctly, he did just about anything he could to keep Cruz from winning the senate seat from TX...
Good for him...and not sure about Palin any more...

if trumps wins, Melania will be only the second foreign born first lady. and the youngest first lady was 21.

And only the second to take her clothes off for the camera. Or are there others?
