I had friends in college affected by polio..What a dreadful disease...I was so thrilled the vaccine was available when my children were young.

Dad spent weeks in an old style iron lung. Everyone was so worried they did not have time to notice my brother and I ran fevers and had paralysis too. We actually were lucky they did not put us in rehab and wear out our muscles with all the therapy. We have very little post-polio syndrome after all these years. That was the late 1940’s.
