Washington (CNN)Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is seriously considering a possible independent presidential run and is looking at making a decision sometime in March, two sources familiar with Bloomberg's thinking told CNN on Saturday.
One source said aides to the three-term mayor are looking at ballot access issues, but the source refused to speak specifically about what Bloomberg, 73, asked to be done.
The source added that Bloomberg sees the Republican and Democratic presidential races as becoming increasingly polarized, and neither fits Bloomberg's views. But Bloomberg, who has flirted with Oval Office aspirations in the past, is serious about a possible candidacy, the source insisted.
A decision will have to be made by the first week of March, likely before it's clear who the Democratic and Republican nominees are, because of the process to get on ballots for the November election.
A spokesman for the former mayor declined to comment.
News of Bloomberg's consideration was first reported Saturday morning by The New York Times, which said the media mogul would be willing to spend $1 billion of his own money on a White House bid.
A source close to the former mayor has previously told CNN that Bloomberg would seriously consider entering the race if it appeared Donald Trump or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz would face Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the general election.

Last month, the media mogul commissioned a poll to see how he would fare as a third-party candidate against Trump and Hillary Clinton, the respective Republican and Democratic presidential front-runners, the source close to the former mayor told CNN. The poll was requested after Bloomberg saw Trump's meteoric rise to the top

This is a candidate that would bleed of votes from the left.
He is no dummy & can see that Hilly could be/should be/is in deep doo doo. He is counting on her being out of the race & considers himself more electable than Sanders.
That Bloomberg is thinking this way ‘should’ be worrisome to Hilly .... who is still claiming to have neither sent nor received classified info on her email account (told somebody this who questioned her while she was working a rope line yesterday).

Why does this guy even think he would have a chance. He must have some delusion that he is the 2nd Coming of Rudy Giullani or maybe the American version of George Soros. Let him run and waste his money.
If you want a nation-wide Nanny state, Bloomberg is your guy.
That would split about 90% of the Northeast vote evenly between the DEM winner Trump if he wins, and Bloomberg, LOL.
“He is 73 years old and has several billion $$.”

Several billion? I heard this gun-grabbing Bloomturd is worth something like $30 - $40 billion or more.
He can run as Yeb!s running mate. Two useless booobies.
Could be. Like I said, what else does he have to do with his $$. I’m sure he’ll end up giving a lot away, but he can’t take it with him.
He wants to save the world from Big Gulps.
I don’t think any of this will happen. FWIW I think Hillary will be indicted. Obama tosses her under bus for Biden. Biden will be nominee and Bloomberg stays home
It is to late to get on the ballot in many states!! Bloomberg jumping in would be impossible!!! This entire situation if Hildabeast is indicted will have to be handled at the convention!!!
Even though “Adolph Bloomberg” is only 5’2’’ he is still the biggest joke to ever come out of New York City!
LOL
I agreeâ¦.and thats when Biden steps in. Let’s not be complacent. Old Uncle Joe will get the full backing of the Democrat machine . He’d be formidable. This whole election is up for grabs. With Rubio failingâ¦.Kasich is rallying in New Hampshire I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a Kasich - Biden race.
