If Trump and Hillary Are Our Final Options, We Deserve Some Pain

Trump is at the top of the polls, and that may not change. Nevertheless, he will not receive my support. I am rather tired of a screeching establishment requiring that we support whomever is the current frontunner, and telling us we need to "get in line", like robots. That kind of talk is groupthink, much like Obamamania. It has no place in conservatism.

Trump is the kind of candidate who appeals to base emotions and the thirst for popular appeal. We should never treat candidates as celebrities. But increasingly, we do. I once thought that those on our side of the aisle were better than liberals in that we don't vote based on mindless, superficial reasons that got the similarly resume-challenged disaster known as Barack Obama into office. But unsurprisingly, we're just as capable of the same failure to treat the election process seriously.

If Trump and Hillary Are Our Final Options, We Deserve Some Pain

After the last 3 clowns we've had in the White House, people are dumping on TRUMP?

Clinton - Openly corrupt liar and serial sexual predator.

Bush - A BDSM submissive

Obama - Proof that the bar can't get any lower

Trump (or Cruz) would be a breath of fresh air compared to these crooks and losers.

I am a principled conservative, and I am damn tired of voting for less.

I'm a principled conservative too, But I've yet to see that get us anywhere.

IMO, DC is the problem, I think Cruz or Trump will go a long way in destroying the DC cabal....but Trump at this point looks to be the better bet.

Hillary for 4 years will seal the deal, I don't think we can afford that.

And thank you for the reasoned response, it is much appreciated.

Defeatism sickens me, too, dearest Jim and it’s NOT an option this year.

Hillary, Sanders, Biden, Kerry or that horrid Elizabeth Warren will put an end to our Republic.

I would choke and likely draw the line at John Ellis Bush, but he won’t be the nominee regardless.

Rush has disparaged the Rich Lowery gang of 22 effort

That's good, I've listened to Rush for years and do love him. It's hard for these guys to not show a preference, ever.

1795 addressed means of naturalization

It did not address the term natural born as found in Constitution. And 1790 act

It simply didn’t

Feel free cut and paste both in their entirety

It’s never been challenged

Never had to be

And Cruz and his supporters have to my lament indulged in ad hominum and obfusacation rather than address specifics

Should Cruz win it will require a ruling

I hope it’s not the 9th

It’s been a jump the shark moment for Levin

Rush and Hannity have held up

Mark is now in the opposition more or less

Quite a few notables oppose the gang of 22

United States Congress, “An act to establish an uniform rule of Naturalization; and to repeal the act heretofore passed on that subject” (January 29, 1795).

I'm in agreement with you, was just pointing out some info for you.

In the case of the Great Pretender the question of where, exactly, he was born, was never definitely settled in court because of the lack of standing of the plaintiffs. It does not appear that there is any issue as to where Senator Cruz was born, namely, in a foreign country. Nor is it likely that the Democrats, either through a candidate, or a Democrat state official, will have the same problem. An Act of Congress, such as the 1790 Act, does not define constitutional intent. This is particularly so because there was much commentary by intelligent knowledgeable people after it was passed that it was not constitutional and that commentary was reflected when the 1975 Act was passed and removed the word “natural.”

I know exactly how you feel Jim Rob. Being a Republican since Gen. Einsenhower, I carry scars on my knees from the shredded glass while holding my nose to vote for these Republican loser choices put forth by the media and GOPe,

I honestly hope JEBush is NOT the nominee. I keep thinking he’s been “bought” for many, many years, by the foreign and Chamber of Commerce cabal. He and everyone but Trump are running on someone else’s money. In office they will do exactly what the money people want, not what is good for America. (My thoughts)

Wrong. There are quite a lot more than 8 -- at least 37 (that is a low, informal count, but a certain tally) who've been courageous enough to say so in the face of guaranteed hostile reaction here, and that is not counting Republicans I know outside of FR who will simply decline to vote for Trump.

Now they will be even less inclined to state their real opinions and intent, which means that FR will be even less inclined to reflect the TRUE sentiments of conservatives who come here to speak freely -- they cannot speak freely.

It's just like there were quite a lot more than 8 in 2012 -- there were literally hundreds of people here who declared they'd not vote for Romney in the general. They weren't making a threat, they were communicating what they would do if Romney won the nomination: snub him in the general because they refused to vote for functional Democrat leftists regardless of party affiliation.

It is what it is.
