I want to keep the lands great, and you don't know what the state is going to do."

Anyone here think state governments are less corrupt and more efficient than the federal government? Annapolis, DC, Sacramento, Austin - I repeat - Austin?

Our Natianal Parks are a great heritage. BLM lands - well, there is some room for negotiation.

I didn’t realize there was a Conservative rational for big federal government control of all those lands. As a general rule private is better than government ownership and state ownership better than federal ownership.

Was that a rhetorical question?

By their very nature, states are less corrupt than the feds. They have a limited sphere of influence compared to the feds. This principle is pretty much the raison d’etre of federalism.

Yes, in the broadest sense state legislators ae far more representative of the people than the federal government.

> “Annapolis, DC, Sacramento, Austin - I repeat - Austin?”

Those are all cities that are liberal enclaves that rely on federal rulings and policies. Austin houses the state legislature but does not own it. Texas state legislators come from all over Texas and are by and large very conservative.

Your point fails.

There is always corruption, corruption on every level. Like shoplifting in stores or weeds in a garden, it is always there and must be minimized. To minimize corruption in representative bodies, one must get close to it. State legislators are much closer to the people than federal legislators.

There you have it.

The big centralized federal government does it best.

I repeat!

The big centralized federal government does it best.

“...Anyone here think state governments are less corrupt and more efficient than the federal government?...”

When it comes to the way state parks are managed? HECK YES!!

Of the many state parks I’ve visited, they are every bit as nice and well maintained — often times *much* better than — the many national parks I’ve visited. No question!

Trump supporters never cease to amaze me at how easily they can suddenly rationalize cozying up to Trump’s HYOOGE big-govt intentions. For the life of me, how can they not trust their own eyes and ears each time he (consistently) demonstrates his “NYC-Values” center-left political philosophy? It’s what he grew up with. It’s what he knows best. He keeps showing us that it is his first instinct.

Yeah they are something the Big hack Government can use as sledge hammer during budget negotiations.

OR have you forgotten when they closed them all down and we the American Citizen could not even visit them.

They used them as blackmail on US to get what they want.

Have you frequented Texas State Parks since your bring up Austin? Jewels in the rough. We frequent them in our travels and the prices are great. I would have no problem if Texas managed all FERAL land in Texas.

Yes. Austin isn't a state. Texas is run by mostly conservatives. Both chambers and the governor are Republicans (not exactly a badge of honor lately, but WAY more efficient and less corrupt than the Washington alphabet soup of statists). One size fits all - says Obama, er ah, Trump.

As a resident of the People's RepuliK of Illinois, I'm damn' sure glad you asked that question.

Is the State Government of Illinois less corrupt than the Federal Government?

HELL NO! The Fed's ain't got nuffin' on Illinois or Chicago when it comes to corruption!

I do however want all FEDERAL POWER that has not been EXPRESSLY granted by the States to the Federal Government returned BACK TO THE STATES!

At the end of the day, it's going to be a lot easier to drive 2.5 hours to Springfield IL or Chicago IL and hang all the corrupt, treasonous bastards than it will be for me to drive to Washington DC to do the same.

I want my corrupt politicians close enough that we the people can "reach out and touch them" easily, if you know what I mean.

Since the con men and idiots at the Federal level started their careers at the local and state level, almost surely not.

Our Natianal Parks are a great heritage. BLM lands - well, there is some room for negotiation.

The question is whether the ranchers who can't or won't pay grazing fees on BLM and/or National Forest land would really be able to buy the land at market value if it were privatized. Chances are that they wouldn't in most cases, so people like the Bundy family are just blowing smoke.
