I’ve always wondered if that’s a functional weapon they have.

I hope he was relieved of duty by now. I appreciate the sentiment but they are calling for two feet of snow here.

When we visited, think I remember reading/hearing the weapons are functional but unloaded.

The rifle is probably unloaded.

The bayonet is probably VERY functional, if needed.

Having a weapon that is not functional would be pointless, IMO. Wasn’t it last year when some jackweed attacked and killed the guard at the tomb of the Unknowns in Canada, and the guard had an unloaded weapon? The soldier was killed, if I recall. Load the weapons. Use them if need be.
