I grew up in Maryland. When I was twelve or thereabouts, my brother and I used to shoot the rabbits in our garden with .22 shorts out of our bedroom window. When one fell over dead from a head shot, the others would just look around and keep on eating the vegetables; but when one was wounded and started screaming, they would all run away.
