Presidential candidate Ted Cruz has praised Donald Trump for making illegal immigration a central issue of the Republican presidential race, but in an exclusive interview with ABC News, Cruz said that Trump's immigration plan amounts to amnesty.
"So Donald Trump's position is once you deport them, it's what's called touchback. A lot of establishment Republicans had touchback," Cruz said in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. "Basically you make them fly back to their country for a minute, touch the ground, and then they come back with amnesty as citizens. Now, Donald is entitled to do that. He can advance that position, but he doesn't get to pretend that it's not amnesty if he's legalizing 12 million people [who are] here illegally."
Cruz also accused Trump of latching onto the issue of illegal immigration for political gain. Cruz said Trump was notably absent during the battle over the "Gang of Eight" immigration reform bill in 2013....

Keep digging the hole Ted.
Hey Ted...it wasn’t Trump passing out Teddy Bears and Soccer Balls to ILLEGALS at the Southern border with Glenn Beck.
“Cruz also accused Trump of latching onto the issue of illegal immigration for political gain”
So why didn’t you say that last August, or September, or October, or November?
I guess that would have required effort, or that you dont actually mean what you say now.
It does amount to amnesty.
How is it “amnesty” when you force illegals out of the country and if they want to return make them do it legally?
“Amnesty” is another one of so many terms in this “(dis) information” age of instant communication, that begins to lose its meaning after overuseage and misusage.
I’m going to build a wall. And Mexico is going to pay for it. They are. It’s going to be a big beautiful wall. And it is going to have a big beautiful door. They have to leave. No, they do. They have to leave. They have to go. And I want them to come back soon. We’re going to help them come back. But they have to do it legally. They have to be legal.
The nation would not even be talking about Amnesty, were it not for Trump.

Cruz needs to get his story straight here.
In one breath he’s calling Trump’s plan evil big government stormtrooper deportation brigades.
The next breath says Trump is too easy on illegals...
Trump’s plan isn’t touch back amnesty and Cruz knows it. Trump’s plan is “GET OUT” and if you want back in get to the back of the line.
It’s about enforcing the damn laws as they stand!
Sorry Ted. Go get some soccer balla and Teddy Bears.
I think the INS and Border patrol would do a better job enforcing border law, under Trump, FWIW. Commercials that tell me otherwise notwithstanding.

GO TRUMP !!!
whatever ...

Trump should stick to evicting old ladies from their home.
Just being here unlawfully is not a crime.
There is no possible “amnesty” because there is underlying crime.
I’m not allowed to work as a surgeon for pay. Neither Obama nor Trump can by executive power enable me to work as a paid surgeon in the USA.
If I want to work as a paid surgeon, I need to go to medical school and pass the state exams and get a state license. If foreigners want to work here, they need to stand in line and hope they fit the legal requirements to get valid paperwork too.
Congress, not the President, controls immigration.
Congress, not the Supreme Court, controls immigration.
“Cruz needs to get his story straight here.”
It is up to Trump to make Trump’s position clear.
Trump has used the word expedite.
Trump need only say back of the line [actually lines], fuera de Estados Unidos.
“Iâm going to build a wall. And Mexico is going to pay for it.”
Under international law, except to prevent the escape of criminals, accused persons and (potential) soldiers, a country can not hinder the emigration of its people.
Illegal immigration is our legal problem, not Mexico’s.
