“Now he’s entitled to have that view,” Cruz added, “but my view is we have an obligation to protect the rights of Americans, and private property is essential to the rights of Americans.”
*****************
Yep Cruz is correct and he is in a position to get the laws
regarding property changed. Where his legislation to revise
Bankruptcy Law?
And just how did Cruz think they were going to get the land for the Keystone Pipeline he supported?
Yeah, yeah. More old news. Most people don’t even know what Cruz is talking about.
Without eminent domain the keystone pipeline will never get built.
It’s a huuugee issue.
Trump believes rich people should be able to seize private land using government power to give to rich guys like him.
That’s not remotely conservative.
Yes.
Trump’s support for Kelo is a VERY big negative.
Kelo is very unpopular with many independents as well. It really only has acceptance from a small group of business people and big government politicians.
This is a winning move for Cruz.
This issue should have some ‘legs’ in the Northeast.
Slinging mud at the walls in the hope that something will stick.
Need a little primer on Eminent Domain:
1. It is permitted by the US constitution but is limited to taking for a public purpose
2. What is at issue is the Kelo decision which allowed taking by the government and turning over to a private entity for a private purpose
3. Any one who is truly conservative believes that this is an absolutely horrid decision
4. Donald Trump does not, he likes the Kelo decision
Does Cruz oppose Eminent Domain? If so, he opposes the 5th Amendment of the Constitution. So much for being a supporter of the Constitution.
Cruz better get back to Iowa he is now down double digits in some polling.
Not a winning issue.
I’m in favor of eminent domain if it’s:
1) For the public good
2) Compensates the owner at 4x or more of appraised or actual current value. I’m against it if the owner doesn’t get at least 4x actual value. (Which I know is not the current state)
Most voters don’t have a clue about what Eminent Domain is or if they do, they don’t care.
“Trump as an overly zealous land-grabber, profit-driven elitist and big-government liberal, prioritizing commercial interests like his own over conservative values.”
Yeah? Isn’t that what his supporters like?
"Don't look now, but while our best conservative is running a political campaign, Trump is leading a rebellion. Not as a liberal or a conservative politician, but as a successful red-blooded, can-do American capitalist.", Jim Robinson
